jasd Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 ...I shoulda called my thread ‘Jumbolaya’? instead of ‘just chop suey’? Okaayyy..., how about another format? Ask and Answer: Ask: Wha’s weird? Answer: loss of the political distinction that used to attend dialogue upon the issue of “pro life” and “pro choice” (cum global warming, cum snark, cum capital punishment...). Apparently, the matter has morphed to one of relativity. Ask: Wha’s weirder? Answer: Tally-ho! y’all come now, y’hear – well, ceptin’ the Fox, that is. –WH __________________________ Hi folks We expect our thread “wha’smatter” to have a pleasingly longevity – barring the intervention of the – “Oh-oh, Br’r wabbit! heah come de judge...!” (we’s was jest havin’ funs... over/out. 30/31) :-) Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted October 22, 2009 Moderators Posted October 22, 2009 Hehe - I think perhaps you're just a little *too* erudite and playful and allusive and complex for us! I did read 'chop suey' but struggled to think of an appropriate reply. I feel terribly plodding and ordinary just responding this way to this one, but didn't want you to feel you'd been completely ignored. I'm not so sure it's relativism, but I do think there's more recognition that labels like 'liberal' and 'conservative' no longer 100% identify a particular set of views: I know I myself hold some liberal and some conservative views. I hold my own views pretty strongly, but they don't match any of the 'Big Brands' perfectly - and IMO that's a Good Thing. I also am modest enough *not* to believe that my holding my own views strongly means either (a) that everyone else must believe exactly as I do or ( that it gives me an excuse to verbally beat up anyone who disagrees with me. If that modesty and courtesy is relativism, guess I'll have to live with that. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted October 22, 2009 Moderators Posted October 22, 2009 And on the second point: is it *really* weird that the (Democrat) White House doesn't have a whole lot of love for the Media Arm of the GOP, oops, I mean Fox News? The Fox News that spends every waking hour attacking the WH, often with the most egregious made-up nonsense? Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 That's nonsense. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

As Fox news/programming is extremely hard on republicans as well. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Woody Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Yes, I agree with you Bonnie. Perhaps the problem here is that Bravus actually doesn't spend much time listening to Fox. He relies on his info that he gets from left wing talking heads ... like they are truthful. Oh Yeah. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. He relies on his info that he gets from left wing talking heads ... like they are truthful. Oh Yeah. Well we have just gone thru the "accurate reporting" of the main stream news concerning Rush Limbaugh. After they achieved their agenda they all had to admit nothing had been substantiated. A record could not be found of Rush Limbaugh making those statements. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Woody Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Rush never said anything wrong. IT was all just fabricated by those left wing talking heads. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
