Dr. Shane Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 MOBILE USE IS LINKED TO BRAIN TUMOURS LONG-term mobile phone users could face a higher risk of developing cancer in later life, according to a decade-long study. The report, to be published later this year, has reportedly found that heavy mobile use is linked to brain tumours. The survey of 12,800 people in 13 countries has been overseen by the World Health Organisation. Preliminary results of the inquiry, which is looking at whether mobile phone exposure is linked to three types of brain tumour and a tumour of the salivary gland, have been sent to a scientific journal. The findings are expected to put pressure on the British Government – which has insisted that mobile phones are safe – to issue stronger warnings to users. Members phkrause Posted October 25, 2009 Members Posted October 25, 2009 I don't use mine that much either, but its almost always with me Dgrimm. Wonder if that counts? pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GreatLakesGramma Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Maybe you don't use your cell phone much, but do you use a cordless phone at home or work? You get the same thing with one of those. Dr. Shane Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 90% of the world uses cell phones? I find that hard to believe. Maybe 90% of the developed world. Most of the world's population is in China, India and Africa. Do 90% of those populations use cell phones? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Bravus Posted October 26, 2009 Moderators Posted October 26, 2009 I dunno, but I hear cell phone minutes have become a common thing hawked by street peddlers in the massive slums around Lagos, Nigeria. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Gerr Posted October 26, 2009 Moderators Posted October 26, 2009 Just tagging on. I believe the subject of cell phones causing brain tumors was brought up when Johnny Cochran died of brain tumor. Since then, I have tried to use the speakerphone whenever possible so as not to bring any wireless phone close to my head. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted October 26, 2009 Moderators Posted October 26, 2009 90% of the world uses cell phones? I find that hard to believe. Maybe 90% of the developed world. Most of the world's population is in China, India and Africa. Do 90% of those populations use cell phones? I would very much question the 90% figure. Most people in the third world just can't afford it. But I've been to China twice (but not on CC airmiles!!!) and I can tell you that cell phones there was/is very common. Putting up cell towers is probably a lot less expensive than physically wiring every house and connecting every village, town, and city. Quote
Members phkrause Posted October 26, 2009 Members Posted October 26, 2009 Not sure that I'd question that, because if you guys recall, whenever they showed the people in the middle east, they lived in what looked like dirt homes but yet they all had cellphones and TVs. Even in Africa everyone seems to have cellphones, so not sure the the 90% is wrong. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Dr. Shane Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Cell phones are very popular in Mexico. However most of the families we work with have one phone per household so not every person has a phone. Compared to China, India and much of Africa, Mexico is much wealthier.
