Woody Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Has anyone been to one of the Tea Parties held around the nation? They held one in our town not too long ago and it was well attended. I didn't go because Joe the Plumber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_the_Plumber) wasn't there. I would have loved to have heard him and or Sarah. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Hey ... I am 45 min. from any large town also. But our small town held one recently. Maybe you need to start one for your town and invite Joe the Plumber. Maybe I would come. You could advertise ... "Come meet Redwood and Joe the Plumber". Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Members phkrause Posted October 27, 2009 Members Posted October 27, 2009 Have you guys actually listen to some of these tea party meetings. There talking about the healthcare that they are receiving right now. There's no way they are talking about the healthcare that's being proposed, because there's no way to know what that will be like until we have it. I heard one lady talking about how bad things were for her son, that she couldn't get this or that. My question is than, what healthcare is she talking about, one that's not even here yet or the healthcare that is here right now? Or the guy that asked Sen. McCain what kind of coverage he has? Are they talking about healthcare that is not even here yet or healthcare as it is today, or for the past 50 years? What I've been hearing is people sounding off on the healthcare that they are receiving not healthcare they don't even have yet. You can't xxxxx about something that's not even in place yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pk pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. The biggest complaint seems to be "re-existing condition". Not sure I quite understand the rational. If I can have a pre-existing condition,I will pay the estimated yearly penalty and wait till I really need it,then go and sign up. Disrupting the way we receive our health care for the small percentage of uninsured doesn't make sense, except as a means of control. When the illegal immigrants are eliminated as Obama claims will be,there will be roughly 30 million uninsured. Some deliberately so. According to the CBO when all is said and down according to the draft we will still have 25 million uninsured. Nothing is in final bill form, but it is not hard to see what they would like and it isn't pretty. You can add the insurance industry to the permanently unemployed. It will kill that industry. Your health care will be in their hands. It is such a rush,no one can be bothered to make it available to read. Obama claims thousands are dying yearly of lack of health care. Maybe someone can explain why the urgency is in passing but not in implementing. It will not go into effect to save those dying for three years. Obama is really going to get tough on medicare fraud when this goes into use. Horse pucky. If there is 500 billion in fraud, why not tackle that now. With that amount in fraud saved it would probably care for the uninsured Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The government cannot handle the swine flu. They have known for months and yet there is shortage after shortage. There is no way of knowing how severe. Up to 50% test results are false . Parents bring their sick child to Dr or emergency, there is no tests, just a diagnosis of swine flu. This is true of call ins. A diagnosis is made over phone and recorded as swine flu. The supply logically has to be reserved for those most at risk, can you explain why in at least one state, the poor unable to pay are included in the risk group. Guess what?? Insurance and you are not considered at risk or important enough to get the shot. This is the group you want to turn your entire health care over to. To do so economically and efficiently. Would hate to see a bio terror attack. They knew this was coming and it is a mess Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Moderators lazarus Posted October 27, 2009 Moderators Posted October 27, 2009 The biggest complaint seems to be "re-existing condition". Not sure I quite understand the rational. If I can have a pre-existing condition,I will pay the estimated yearly penalty and wait till I really need it,then go and sign up. Here are three examples of how the insurance companies use their ability to deny coverage for existing conditions in an immoral way: The National Women’s Law Center has released new research indicating that women are charged as much as 48% more than men for individual insurance, and that women are routinely denied coverage for such so-called pre-existing conditions as having had a C-section or survived domestic abuse. As Peggy Robertson testified recently to Congress, because she had had a C-section, her insurance company declined to cover her at all unless she agreed to be sterilized. Rape survivor Christina Turner was unable to purchase health coverage because she followed her doctor’s advice and took anti-HIV medication for a month after the assault, rendering her ineligible for insurance. California nurse Diana Faugno said the insurance industry’s approach forces rape survivors to choose between the risk of contracting AIDS and the risk of losing health coverage. In a blatant example of what is wrong with the US health insurance industry, New York-based Guardian Life Insurance Co. canceled plans throughout the state in order to avoid continuing coverage for Ian Pearl, a 37-year-old man with muscular dystrophy, who requires round-the-clock medical treatment costing $1 million a year. New York state prohibits insurance companies from cutting costs by canceling individual patients’ coverage, so Guardian did an end run around the law by simply ending all New York health plans similar to Pearl’s. Quote: Disrupting the way we receive our health care for the small percentage of uninsured doesn't make sense, except as a means of control. It's not just about the uninsured. It's about making thing better for the insured in many ways. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 We have had a number of Tea Parties in my area. I thought about going but decided I needed to clean my toilet instead. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I agree that we need health-care insurance reform. However the way the Democrats are going about it is totally wrong. They are not making any attempt to bring in Republicans. Obama is showing poor leadership. He is letting Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid plot the course. Look at what Congress did with the Stimulus package. They loaded it up with Democratic pork. They didn't allow any Republicans to add any of their pork projects. It was a Democratic pork stimulus. They are going down the same road on health-care insurance reform and we are dealing with 20% of our economy. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... They are going down the same road on health-care insurance reform and we are dealing with 20% of our economy. Insurance reform can be had without the tremendous expense. These stories may be true but the last ones used for the Obama tear jerk were not.Conveniently forgetting the gist of the stories for the optimum tears result. Obama keeps yammering about competition. Where is the competition when one insurance(government) does not have to make money, rather if they run short, declare a new crisis and grab or print some more. There are over 1700 insurance companies. Make them compete. Open it up across state lines. Remove the mandates and let me choose the coverage I want. I don't need to pay for substance abuse or STD.Those that want insurance companies to pay hang nails and everything else, let them pay for it. Instead of waiting for at least three years stop the medicare fraud now. They claim it is at 500 billion. That would go quite a ways for those that don't have insurance. But measures that could be taken will not put the complete control in the hands of the government. Let them tell the truth for once. We will be able to choose our own health care provider but only for a short time, then there will be none. Private insurance cannot compete with government run and they know it Any business that will pay the tremendous increase would be out of his mind.Far better to go on the government dole. Why would anyone deliberately pay for costly coverage year round when they can wait until hit by cancer or heart attack to opt in. Maybe explain again about not covering illegal immigrants or not providing abortions at tax payer expense. A little truth telling would put it in the tank,we can't have that.
