A 60-year-old woman was fatally shot Monday at the campground where she worked in the San Bernardino Mountains.

The victim, whose identity had not been released by late Monday, was found just before noon at Camp Cedar Falls Campground and Conference Center on Highway 38 in Angelus Oaks.

A campground employee called 911 to report that the woman was lying inside a duplex. She was a maid at the Seventh-day Adventist-run camp, and lived on site.

Homicide detectives responded, and soon arrested Leith Hamilton, 30, of Angelus Oaks, on suspicion of murder.

Hamilton also worked and lived at the camp, which hosts frequent retreats at its sprawling conference center. But detectives said late Monday it was still unclear what prompted the suspect to open fire.

She was shot in the face. The perp is to be arraigned today. Still no report of a motive.
