Ted Oplinger Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 How did mercy reach you is the big question. Usually come with someone else. Tongue-in-cheek to a point here - Mercy grabbed me by the scruff of the neck, and looked a whole lot like Consequences, until I got on my knees and looked up. Truthfully, I can't place the finger on any one person, but I know several people did have a hand in bring me and Mercy together. When it happened, I was quite alone - exept for the presence of Mercy, who also happens to go by the familiar name of Jesus...I've never been the same since... Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan
LifeHiscost Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 How did mercy reach you is the big question. Usually come with someone else. "...just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love..."Ephesians 1:4 NKJV OTOH I was not aware of it for many years after having been delivered from the womb. And even at that time of recognition, many escapes from experiences that could have led to death or tragedies of life, went unrecognized until Jesus' love was seen as available to all willing to receive it, even in our totally undeserving condition. "In Christ also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" Ephesians 1:11 21st Century KJV "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 KJV Blessings! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Members phkrause Posted November 7, 2009 Members Posted November 7, 2009 I'd like to know as well Richard. I also couldn't really give you a name, but I would imagine it was a combination of many, praying for me everyday. My Mom, Dad, and my church family. As I've grown older and look back at my life I know that God's mercy has always been there, but I never knew it and never reached out to get it but he gave it to me anyway. If I wanted it or not. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

LifeHiscost Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Good one dgrimm, God's mercy is truly always there for the asking. pk Judging from my own experience I would suggest it's always there, whether or not we ask. It's the recognition and acknowledgment of that fact and the thanks (praise) that enables the reality to be ongoing and permanent. That sounds like salvation by our works but it's just like repentance. It's dependent upon the Master to offer mercy before it's possible. "So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?"Luke 17:17 NKJV " Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."Acts 5:31 KJV Blessings!
