Woody Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 With the concern over Swine Flu ... are any of you cutting back on the amount of kissing that you do? The entire family across the street have it. And we have a lot of contact with them. Don't get me wrong ... we don't kiss them. I was just thinking that maybe I should put some restrictions in place with Blanche since she has more contact with them than I do. And I would hate to get it just because Blanche got it. What do you think? Are you putting any kissing restrictions in your family? Just thinking here ... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Liz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 You bring up a good point Uncle Red. While I don't have any kissing restrictions for my family, the other day in church, when the call came from the leader "to stand up and shake the hand of the person next to you and welcome them", I inwardly cringed. I did not want to shake hands with anyone and normally I am a touchy-feely type person (LOL remember that "incident" about 6 or 7 months ago?). Anyways, I am glad that we shook hands with people, as did everyone in the congregation; but as soon as I sat down, I grabbed my little bottle of germX. Howard Hughes anyone? Yes Mrs. Hughes ... but I don't blame you. I may be doing the same thing when I shake hands with Mrs. Redwood. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Dr. Shane Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 The Mennonite men kiss each other at the end of the service. I guess that practice could cause the whole church to come down with the flu. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members phkrause Posted November 10, 2009 Members Posted November 10, 2009 Redwood we have this guy at church who will not shake anybody's hand because he does not want to get any germs. As long as I've known him he's been this way. When all the other members greet each other by shaking hands hugging etc. he just seats there and wants nothing to do with that. I think we can get ourselves so paranoid that we can't do anything If we practice proper hygeine I believe all will be well. Lets not get so paraniod that we stop living. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted November 10, 2009 Administrators Posted November 10, 2009 I think that a few germs might even make us more resistant than we otherwise would be. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 10, 2009 Members Posted November 10, 2009 I don't like shaking people's hands. You don't know where those hands have been. I had to get over *that* real quick when I went to school in Austria. It was the custom to give hearty handshakes to EVERYONE you met and considered impolite if you *didn't* return the handshake. Personally, I'm a hugger, but I know not everyone is comfortable with that. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 10, 2009 Members Posted November 10, 2009 Sometimes there are not facilities for washing one's hands - as when you meet in the street/sidewalk, for example.
