The Search for Head shrinkers

The National Geographic Channel is disclosing the people who are shrinking heads deep in the Amazon. On Sunday night they are having a special program to document how and what is going on in there. It sounds very interesting. Be sure to tune in.

Degrimm ... do you get this channel? Check your local listing.

This brings new meanings to 'shrink'.

I want to see that so bad but I don't have cable. If I could get cable the only channels I would watch are The National Geographic channel, The History Channel, and a couple of other ones.

Yesterday or the day before, for some reason, I thought about shrunken heads and wondered how it was done. In particular, I was wondering if they removed the skull & just shrink the skin and stuff it, like a taxidermist stuffs an animal. I was going to look it up, but forgot by the time I finished the work I was doing when it came to mind. I think I'll go look it up now.

When I was in Pathfinders years ago, a missionary doctor brought in a shrunken monkey head (at least I HOPE it was a monkey head) for us to see. It was gross.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

What I read was downright disgusting. Shrunken heads were actually quite rare due to cultural restrictions against killing. But when Westerners created an economic demand for them, killing increased in order to supply them for collectors and tourists. I wonder if those people knew that innocent people were murdered just to supply them with souvenirs.

WELL YES BUT I was wondering it the people that

got killed were terminally ill and were going

to die any way???

According to the article, some of them got heads from their version of the morgue, but mostly it was raiding other tribes and killing them. Later, some started making fake ones, from monkey or sloth heads, or from goatskin.
