http and https and https in red letters with a line thru it

Ok, I am trying to get a home loan....and I notice that the address line for the website has a "http" and when I try to register, it goes to a "https" in red letter and it has a line thru it...sort of the universal sign for "Not"....

I know that a website that has "https" is a secure site, but this other red lettered one has me stymied....

Any well informed person [genius]out there have the latest in "https" technology??

Aubrey,

this is exactly what I was looking for....thank you....

And tell your hubby [that rascally "bum" who doesn't come here] I said "thanks" as well...

Not sure where or why, but I've heard or read or found a site that mentioned that red in the line is not a good sign Neil.

I'm not Neil, but when I try using the https://clubadventist.com/, I get a notice saying that the certificate is unverified, but that I can continue if I want. I clicked *continue* and got to the site, but I was not logged in. Weird.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Wow! Firefox really makes an issue of that one. I get a page that says:

Quote:
This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect

securely to clubadventist.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,

sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are

going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to

this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is

trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

Then there's a button that says "Get me out of here!"

Then:

Quote:
Technical Details

clubadventist.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

The certificate is only valid for plesk

The certificate expired on 2/6/2008 1:30 AM.

(Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate)

I Understand the Risks

If you understand what's going on, you

can tell Firefox to start trusting this site's identification.

Even if you trust the site, this error could mean that someone is

tampering with your connection.

Don't add an exception unless

you know there's a good reason why this site doesn't use trusted identification.

Then another button that says "Add exception..."
