Members phkrause Posted November 19, 2009 Members Posted November 19, 2009 Have encountered that here also Stan. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 "The weaker the argument, the stronger the words...." Amen. And I would add ... the weaker the argument ... the more they try to twist your own words and attempt to tell YOU what YOU believe. Since being here ... I've learned all kinds of things I didn't know I 'frimly believe' and 'repeatedly have stated'. Ha Ha. Clearly a sign of weakness when you have to personally attack the one you despise. I've even been told that I "want to keep sinning and don't want to accept God's power.". Amazing. News to me. But some when they lose an argument will attack the one who brings the good news. And present just the opposite of what is said. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted November 19, 2009 Administrators Posted November 19, 2009 Ha Ha. Clearly a sign of weakness when you have to personally attack the one you despise. Red, I don't think that is because one despises another. It could have to do with being right. Clarence Schilt has an expression that he calls, "What happens when you are right and right isn't working." I wish that there was no reason for anyone to feel attacked. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 19, 2009 Members Posted November 19, 2009 Clarence Schilt also says that "You're the most wrong when you think you are right." He's a smart man...I wish he hadn't retired. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Yes. I agree with that. My thought would be that we as Christians cared enough that when one feels they have been wrongly understood .... and after a full explanation is given to correct it ... then corrections could be made with the wrong image that had been posted. It seems only fair and Christian. Otherwise we are left with purposeful misrepresentation and smearing of another. Another word for that would be lies and attacks. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Clarence Schilt also says that "You're the most wrong when you think you are right." He's a smart man...I wish he hadn't retired. Excellent. Rudywoofs. This is why those who believe in absolute TRUTH ... tend to be the meanest and attack others to convert them to the ONLY way. (their way) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted November 19, 2009 Administrators Posted November 19, 2009 In either case, it might go far to give the other the benefit of the doubt, IMHO. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Yes. Exactly. When someone states that is not their belief .... the other person should accept that and remove the offending and erroneous post. And cease that type of accusation. So yes Gail. WE don't have to agree ... we just need to be respectful enough of each other to take them at their word that they might actually know what their personal belief is. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 The bottom line is that it is always best to go and share what WE believe ... not going around telling people what OTHERS believe when they have stated the opposite. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted November 19, 2009 Administrators Posted November 19, 2009 Well, whatever. I can't say for each circumstance. Sometimes it's best just to suck it up and go on. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Yes. Those who pretend to be the most Holy ... are not likely to see the error of their ways anyways. And they love to stomp on the 'little' people the more they scream. So you have given good advice for when dealing with the powerful. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 This is why those who believe in absolute TRUTH ... tend to be the meanest and attack others to convert them to the ONLY way. (their way) I firmly believe in absolute truth. I don't believe I have a complete understanding of it though. I am still learning. But there are a few things I know for sure, and I won't budge on those. But I won't argue about them either. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

The Holy Spirit has now shown me to not be absolute Truth. For now ... I just think I have much to learn. I doubt that I will ever try to tell someone else what to believe. I think the Holy Spirit can do that. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
