Woody Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 With the holidays coming ... it is going to cost a lot more to travel this year compared to last. Last year the average cost per gallon was $1.70 This year it is $2.60 Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 My son is flying to spend his birthday with his twin brother. He's been looking at the rates for the last week or so, ordered his round trip ticket yesterday, for half what it listed at last week. It seems it pays to wait until the last minute. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Dr. Shane Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 We are going to drive up to the midwest (Minnesota & Wisconsin) for Christmas. I am hoping the price of gas averages out to be about $2.70/gallon. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Neil D Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 2 years ago, I was paying around $3 per gallon of gas...This year at this time, I am paying around $2.84..... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Members phkrause Posted November 25, 2009 Members Posted November 25, 2009 Actually if I recall Neil, here in mass we were around $3.50-4.00 a gallon. Right now we are at around $2.50 (at BJs, which is around .10 cents less than the average). pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Woody Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 I don't mean to question anyone's memory. I am quoting a reliable source with the facts ... fox. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I don't mean to question anyone's memory. I am quoting a reliable source with the facts ... fox. You quoted an average. The price would have been higher in some places, lower in others. Apparently, Massachusetts was one of the high places. Michigan always has higher than average gas prices, because we have a high gas tax here. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 26, 2009 Administrators Posted November 26, 2009 I have stopped worrying over gas prices after reading that in Germany the price is $8.00 per gallon. We have a long way to go before it gets that bad. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. Dr. Shane Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Indeed, this Thanksgiving in America we need to be grateful for the best capitalistic system in the history of the world. Gasoline isn't the only thing that is cheap in the US compared to other countries. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Moderators John317 Posted November 26, 2009 Moderators Posted November 26, 2009 2 years ago, I was paying around $3 per gallon of gas...This year at this time, I am paying around $2.84..... I remember when in 1978 we had long gas lines and the price went way up to over a dollar per gallon. It was hard to believe. But then I heard a man say that one day we would look back and think it was cheap. He was right about that, but at the time a lot of people were pretty mad at Jimmy Carter for the high price of gas. Not long before this, the price had been 67 cents per gallon. It seemed quite a jump! Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Members phkrause Posted November 26, 2009 Members Posted November 26, 2009 When I got out of the military and bought my camaro I was paying around 35 cents for super high test from sunoco. Than in '72 RN became president and gas and all other things in NYC either doubled or triple and even quadripled in price. But I was paying over 70 cents for gas. My camaro got about 12 miles to the gallon. In my book that was the down fall of capitalism. I used to go to the store and buy milk for my mom, I paid around 25 cents for a gallon. On January 22 I believe when RN took office I paid about $1 for the same gallon of milk. And don't get me wrong I do not blame this on either party, I blame this to greed. This started me remembering those sermons I used to hear, when the pastor said at the end of time the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. That eventually there would be no middle class. I'd say that we're almost there. If you look at the list of millonaries it keeps getting larger and larger even though there is supposedly less money to go around, which I don't buy, the money is still there its how its destributed. Not saying that that in itself is wrong either. Its just the way it is. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Yep, I used to pay a nickel for a carton of milk. Now with the way things are going ... a nickel is not worth a dime. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted November 26, 2009 Members Posted November 26, 2009 I'm not even sure that they are still making penny's or nickols anymore? They should just round things off to the nearest dollar and forget all this .99 cant garbage. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 26, 2009 Members Posted November 26, 2009 What we should do is go in to a gas station and ask for one gallon of gasoline....then ask for the change. It always irks me that a gallon costs $2.99 9/10... I'd like the 1/10th of a cent in change. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Members phkrause Posted November 26, 2009 Members Posted November 26, 2009 to good rudywoofs, wouldn't that be something. I wonder what you'd get back? pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Neil D Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Credit for 1/10 of a gallon.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

Members phkrause Posted November 26, 2009 Members Posted November 26, 2009 It sounds like Neil has! He knows the exact change. LOL pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
GreatLakesGramma Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Not really. His math is wrong.
