Thankfulness- what does the Bible say?

Here are some Bible verses on the topic of Thanksgiving:

...Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ- Ephesians 5:18-20

Oh, come, let us sing to the Lord!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. Psalm 95:1,2

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. Psalm 100:4

Focusing on things to be grateful for often rids us of many of the less desirable emotions like envy, jealousy, anger, self-pity, anger and anxiety.

Not only that, Shane, but when you take these words to heart, even memorizing them, and remember the principle, then the Holy Spirit will bring them back to your remembrance at a time when you need them most.

When you are despondant, you will be encouraged in "giving thanks in all things," knowing that God has a plan for you and will help you.
