Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 28, 2009 Members Posted November 28, 2009 I've only seen parts of this program a couple times, but I know a lot of people here on the forum watch it regularly. I'm not sure why, though. Some of the dancing and costumes make it as though the women dancers are getting ready for a Pap smear test. And what is the deal with the men grabbing at the crotch? I think it's sick! Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Nan Posted November 28, 2009 Moderators Posted November 28, 2009 Pam your descriptions crack me up.....I agree with your general impression of the show though, assuming the US version is similar to the Oz one. Quote

Amelia Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I agree. I don't watch this show. Members phkrause Posted November 28, 2009 Members Posted November 28, 2009 I was under the impression that you were the PC guy Sivart on this forum? I personally have no interest in DWTS. But I would never say that to my wife, or anyone else for that matter, who for some reason loves this show. Now I'm one of those rude PC guy's that you mentioned on the other thread, but I would never say that to my wife or anyone else that enjoyed DWTS. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Now I'm one of those rude PC guy's that you mentioned on the other thread, but I would never say that to my wife or anyone else that enjoyed DWTS. pk *sigh* Please read my last post on my thread, wherein I make an attempt to clearly explain that I am NOT PC and I DO NOT think that PC people, or non-PC people, are all rude! I only meant that SOME people who are proud of themselves for not being PC are really just rude. In my post on this thread I was only expressing my opinion of the show. If I knew anyone who liked DWTS, I would never say that to them either. I was partially joking about what I said (if I ever thought it would help my attempts at humor, I'd use more smilies, but I doubt that would help much); I'd really rather watch dancing than toilet cleaning. I was attempting to use hyperbole in a humorous way. Honestly, though, even if I knew someone who liked the show, I'd express my concerns to them in a thoughtful way. I really don't consider scantily clad people dancing suggestively to be the most uplifting form of entertainment. GreatLakesGramma Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I have about as much interest in watching half-naked people dance on TV as watching people clean toilets on TV. I think I might prefer the toilet cleaning show. I might pick up some good hints. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Outta Here Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 This was the first season of Dancing With the Stars I've watched. I enjoyed watching these people learn to dance and put a lot of effort and time into learning the routines. I also really appreciated the positive, uplifting attitudes each of these dancers had toward each other and toward their dance partners. The family members in the audience supporting their loved ones was nice to see as well. Quote
Members phkrause Posted November 28, 2009 Members Posted November 28, 2009 Yes Aubrey, interesting how we like to downplay something we don't enjoy or think is not good for us. But at least its not violence, etc. that we have in all the other shows that we choose to watch. Like I've mentioned above I personally don't care or watch DWTS, but my wife loves it, and basicly because of all the things you have mentioned. I enjoy sports, she doesn't but she doesn't tell me that I can't watch it, because its this or that. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Administrators Gail Posted November 29, 2009 Administrators Posted November 29, 2009 Well, with Donny Osmond winning, my first thought was, "Guess he's good for SOMETHING!" But that is a cruel thought. I just remember how many years he struggled because he was an Osmond and no one took him seriously as a rock musician. Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat was his first post-Osmond-group success and now he has this. I'm glad that it is all coming together for him. I like happy endings! :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Administrators Gail Posted November 29, 2009 Administrators Posted November 29, 2009 I watched a couple dances on the show once and it didn't hold my interest. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Guest Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Well, with Donny Osmond winning, You mean Donny's winning? I knew he was good for something! Quote
