Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted November 30, 2009 Members Posted November 30, 2009 Wow. Struck down by a rare pathogen that he must have picked up in his travels abroad. That's terrible. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
BobRyan Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Dec 2 - 2004 Dave Cress (President of Georgia-Cumberlan conference) died in a freak accident - (Private plane crash). http://www.adventistreview.org/article.php?id=366 http://www.gccsda.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=962&Itemid=136 I happened to meet Dave Cress on an overnight Academy field trip - when he was a senior in Academy. As I recall - Dave had an older brother, Jim. Do I have that right? (OK now I see that connection is confirmed at this link -- http://news.adventist.org/2009/11/james-a-cress-minist.html ) Also in that same plane crash was Jim Frost whose first-wife (Marsha) and daughter Brittany I knew while Marsha was helping him pastor a two-church district in Virginia. All very surprising. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
BobRyan Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Indeed - Dave could not have been much older than 49 or 50 when he died and it appears that Jim was only 60. How tragic for them, their families and the church! And also what a strange set of circumstances for both of them to perish in such unlikely ways. I am not aware of this kind of thing in the same family in so short a time nor even any of these events by themselves happening to other conference administrators -- in a long long time. It goes on my "wall of weird things that happened". in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." COL 316.
