GreatLakesGramma Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 The roads are covered with black ice, and my husband had two accidents on his way to work. First, a deer ran out in front of him and when he tried to stop he started sliding around, so he just let it go and ran right over the deer. Then when he got to the shop, he couldn't stop to turn into the driveway. The driver behind him couldn't stop either, and rear-ended him. There was no damage to his Suburban either time. The other driver had no damage either, because his car just bounced off my husband's. I'm very thankful I insisted that he drive the Suburban during the winter. During the rest of the year he drives the Cutlass that was his father's. But I don't want him to drive it during the winter because it's front wheel drive, and we've both always driven rear wheel drive vehicles. The time his dad and stepmother came down to my family's Christmas dinner, husband went to get them and drove the Cutlass down here, then drove them back. When he took them back, it was snowing and the road they lived on hadn't been plowed at all, and he fish-tailed all the way to their house, because he doesn't know how to drive front wheel drive on snow. When I told him last year that I wanted him to drive the Suburban during the winter, he promised to drive carefully with the Cutlass, but I still said no, so he drives the Suburban in winter. He's glad for that now. So am I. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. GreatLakesGramma Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Husband didn't stop to pick up the deer. I doubt that it's still there. And no, we don't eat it. We are a vegetarian household. When he got home, he said he'd found later that there is some damage after all. The 7-pin connector for the trailer brakes and lights is broken. But he said it was getting corroded anyway. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26.
