I looked under the Christmas Tree ...

And this is what I found:

A book that I had asked Santa for. (Don't tell him that I discovered it ... and I haven't opened it so that I can just pretend I don't know and act surprised)

The book is written by Morris Vendon and is titled:

The Miracle of Conversion

It is a new publication by Pacific Press and I am looking forward to it. Gail ... have you read it yet? Anyone else?

An btw ... this is just to get you started on this thread. Please ... tell us what you discovered under the tree before opening the presents.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I don't have time to check out the gifts under the tree. But since some of our gifts came from out of state, and we had to put them under the tree ourselves after they came in the mail, I did see those, but I already know what our daughter got for her dad and brother, because she told me so I wouldn't get them the same things. The only gifts under the tree I haven't already handled are the ones my son wrapped and put there.

My husband always waits for the last minute to get me anything. So there's nothing under there for me from him. But I told him if he would just keep the top of his dresser clean and uncluttered for a whole year, so I can dust it along with the other furniture, since I'm very allergic to dust, that would be enough of a Christmas present to make me very happy. And if he actually does it all year, I'll ask him to give me the same gift next year.

Redwood, how did you know the gift was that book, if you didn't open it?

Red, I haven't read it, but it does look interesting. I LOVE the miracle of conversion! It's one thing to talk about it, but I LOVE seeing its evidence in people.

Thanks for mentioning it. I'll try to remember to pick one up the next time I'm at the store.

We have no Christmas tree this year.

It's not that we are super-ultra-Conservative or anything. It's because we thought that Spooky the pup (65 lbs now) would demolish it in no time. She loves "sticks".

But I have a table full of gifts for our loved ones in a back bedroom. Shhh!!! :)

My hubby did not bother wrapping my gift this year. It is a sketch book (and also a pad of watercolour paper) for sketching out my stupid dreams. I've been having so many bizarre dreams lately. I'm not sure why, whether it is due to lack of oxygen somehow or one of my medications. But they drive me crazy with their weirdness.

So I thought I might capture some of those moments. I mean, Dali did it and look how famous HE got!! Dürer painted an Apocalyptic dream he had that scared him. And Munch's scream...

I'm looking forward to it :)

I didn't wrap one of the gifts for my spouse either ... it's too large. I put it out in the shed. Had to brush off the snow that showed the tracks of the dolly so as not to illicit suspecions. So spousey ... if you are reading this ... please don't go out to the shed.

I don't have any presents. Or a tree.

Oh, you WILL have a present! The Canadian Santa Claus (well, he IS Canadian since the North Pole is in Canada, isn't it? :) ) is stopping there soon. He left a few days ago with this one...

I have many Morris Vendon books. I love the way he brings spiritual things across. He makes all seem so simple and we make things so hard and complicated. So redwood I'm gonna say this will be a great book and read.

Yes. Morris Vendon is one of my most favorite authors and he has been for years. He puts the Gospel in such a practical way. He was my pastor for a year ... so I especially appreciate him.

My son told me today he's getting clothes. I asked how he knows, and he said the boxes from his brother and sister are shirt boxes. Then he asked me if I got him clothing. He picked up the box from me and shook it up, trying to get an idea of what's in it, but he is going to be SO surprised when he opens it tomorrow.

I got him a magazine subscription, printed out the picture of the magazine cover from the subscription page, and put it in a shoe box. I filled the box with some packing pillows (those plastic pillow shaped air-filled things) so the paper wouldn't move around if he shook it. Then I put in an old hair straightening iron that never worked very well on my hair, which I had in a box to give away, to give it some weight. You can feel it shift if you tip the box back and forth. So he's been trying to figure out which of the things on the list he gave me are in there. bwink

I am still waiting for the guys to get up! Things sure change when your kids are grown up. Nobody slept this late on Christmas day when they were little!

The youngest one, nine, slept until almost 8:30. He always sleeps late if he isn't awakened.

May you all have or had a merry Christmas.

Yes. We read the first 20 pages together today. Everything we have read so far was from a Baptist. I thought it was cool that Vendon was so impressed with a Baptist that he would devop the first portion of the book to be from this author.

The topic of Conversion is centered so well by Vendon who states that unless someone is converted ... they will not be able to make any sense out of 'doctrine'. This is important. We must bring people to JESUS before the 28 Fundamentals . When we do evangelism .... we need to have as our focus ... the need to bring people to Jesus and conversion first and primary. Then the doctrines will come.

Vendon is doing a great job of bringing this home even though I haven't gotten to the part where Vendon writes yet except for the preface. But he approves of what this Baptist is saying or he wouldn't have it be the lead for his book.
