Administrators Gail Posted December 23, 2009 Administrators Posted December 23, 2009 In the movie A Christmas Carol, the Cratchit family rises for a Christmas toast. Bob is about to toast that old miser Scrooge and gets a hearty protest from his wife. She cannot understand how anyone would want to wish health and happiness to a man so selfish, mean and scringy as he. Bob looks at her and says, "My dear! Christmas Day!!!" To that, she replies, "I'll do it for you and for the day..." And they grudgingly and silently follow Bob's example and drinks to his health. In the last few weeks I've been following different threads and it seems that there is a LOT of negativism showing. I don't know if the shorter days (for those of us in the Northern hemisphere) are affecting us all, but why don't we show our love for each other especially at the time of year that people especially seek peace and happy times? Has anybody else had that feeling or is it just me? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 23, 2009 Members Posted December 23, 2009 It's a noble thought. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 It's a noble thought. TU I started a thread about feeding the poor and it turned into Catholic bashing. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted December 23, 2009 Author Administrators Posted December 23, 2009 I can get caught up in it as well at times. But then I remember (or maybe the Holy Spirit scolds me), "They shall be known by their love for one another." Catches me dead in my tracks! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members phkrause Posted December 24, 2009 Members Posted December 24, 2009 Very good thoughts Gail. Hope we all step back and think before we open our mouths, or on the forum, what we type. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Administrators Gail Posted December 24, 2009 Author Administrators Posted December 24, 2009 I moved the next post and a couple of the ones that came after trailed along behind it. Sorry about that. Let's not ruin what started off as a good topic. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
