One further tip that I think is useful is keeping in mind that it's a Discussion forum, not a battleground. The things that make a good conversation face-to-face - like listening, having respect for the views of other participants, being willing to disagree but to do so tactfully and thoughtfully, avoiding abuse and bullying, and so on - also make for enjoyable and productive online discussions.

Remembering that we are 'surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses' here - in that maybe 10x as many people lurk as post - is also useful. It can be frustrating if the people participating in the discussion don't seem to be willing to understand what you post, but remembering that there is a large audience also reading can help to avoid getting steamed up, and instead encourage trying to put your ideas across as clearly and civilly as possible.

Well, kinda, Richard - your thread title highlights the problem but doesn't directly resolve it by offering a place to comment.

I'm happy to delete this thread, though, if yours does the job or if Stan starts a new one...

(and, as always with these hints, 3 fingers are pointing back at me)

Look again. I started two threads. One of them solves the problem.

I would rather have this thread.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

This should be posted so we all can read it once a day-- at least.

Maybe they could be added as "suggestions" to the same link where the rules have been posted.

I'm shocked about what you say regarding people asking for sexual favors. I know it happens all the time elsewhere, but on our Forum?!!!!!

Thanks for posting this. :-)

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
