Bank Note - Of a Different Kind

Tuesday my wife and I went to Dayton to do our shopping, especially since the weather was predicted to turn rather sour. While at our Walmart, I noticed a TV sound truck and a TV station car at a nearby store and wondered why - we usually don't produce that much big news!

It turned out that someone had posted a note early in the morning at a nearby bank building asking for a certain amount of money or he would blow up three schools in the county. The schools concerned evacuated students and followed various procedures, completely wrecking the school day (I feel for the teachers). All three TV stations from nearby Chattanooga, TN were up in our town covering the event.

The suspected would-be "bomber" is in police custody after one policeman said he thought he recognized the type of SUV, a type not often seen in our county. In fact, he thought he had stopped a vehicle just like the one on the bank camera footage just a day or so earlier; he knew exactly where that person lived.

A little scary. We had been from one end of the town to the other during this episode but didn't really see anything much. There was one sheriff's deputy police cruser acting a little funny - started going one way and turned around and went in the opposite direction.

I guess it's just the way things are getting these days.

P.S. I lived for the first thirteen years of my life a stone's throw away from the Washington, D.C. city boundary in the "country" atmosphere of Takoma Park.

WELL it sounds like there was a little excitement

there in that town and even though you lived

near Washington D.C. it just goes to show you

that not place seems safe any more

but praise GOD you are both safe

both your guardian angels must have been with you both

Yes there is no place safe anymore. When I lived in the big apple, even there I felt save. Now when I go back I have to wonder what I'm going to see or run into.

WOW! I wonder why I didn't hear about that on the news, since I live in TN. Glad nothing terrible happened.

So Sivart are you holed up in a little place that you never get out? hahahaha Just kidding. Don't listen to the news do you? I didn't hear about it either until I read James' post.

It's strange how people are changing - that these things are getting more and more common in the "country" areas of the world. I really think the gentleman concerned had it in for the police since one of them had stopped him from doing some strange things on the highway a day or so earlier.

Of course, now we have a little snow on the ground, which is a good "excuse" for some people to be as reckless as possible.
