GreatLakesGramma Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Latest news reports are that five terrorist cell groups have been operating in many of our SDA churches. They have been identified as: Bin Sleepin, Bin Arguin, Bin Fightin, Bin Complainin, and Bin Missin. Their leader, Osama Bin Lucifer, trained these groups to destroy the Body of Christ. The plan is to come into the church disguised as SDA Christians and to work within the church to discourage, disrupt, and destroy. However, there have been reports of a sixth group. A tiny cell known by the name Bin Prayin is actually the only effective counter terrorism force in the church. Unlike other terrorist cells, the Bin Prayin team does not blend in with whoever and whatever comes along. Bin Prayin does whatever is needed to uplift and encourage the Body of Christ. We have noticed that the Bin Prayin cell group has different characteristics than the others. They have Bin Watchin, Bin Waitin, Bin Fastin, and Bin Longin for their Master, Jesus Christ to return. Oh, and Bin Workin'! Which cell group do you belong to? And guess what, no church is exempt. However, you can spot them if you "Bin lookin". Bin Prayin??? No? Then you better get busy, because our church needs all the prayers you can pack in a day, not just when you are in church. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Members abelisle Posted January 15, 2010 Members Posted January 15, 2010 This is very funny I must say! BUT as a Religious Liberties Director in the fastest growing conference in the NAD (GNYC)and having a large number of illegal immigrants on our church rolls here, I initially squirmed and trembled when I first saw the title of this thread. With a heightened national concern for terrorism and the Patriot's Act in effect, our security agencies are looking all over for possible terrorist cell groups. God forbid that we have even one member of our church even remotely affiliated with a suspicious group! Even the fact that anyone can read this thread title since this is a public forum can strike fear. I am very concerned about how our eschatology will play out in terms of our present and future church-state relations. We were warned that we could lose our tax exempt status just for making political statements from the pulpit in our last national elections in '08. Sometimes even now I wonder if here in NYC, we aren't being carefully watched. Of course, the obvious places of concern are the mosques and social clubs where Muslims gather. BUT - is it possible that illegal immigrants (known or suspected) are also being watched? This concern is more acute here in NYC with our very large immigrant population especially in our churches. Already I've read news articles expressing concern for terrorist cells that are already planted that are focusing on land targets (physical infrastructure) rather than just airplanes. How easy it would be to close down Adventist churches and at the same time to begin the persecution we talk about when we describe last-day events. Maybe we should add a disclaimer to the title as it exists on this site? Wouldn't want Homeland Security getting the wrong idea even though it's meant in jest? Neil D Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 How easy it would be to close down Adventist churches and at the same time to begin the persecution we talk about when we describe last-day events. That would depend on what the next "last day event" is considered to be..... I would like to know just how easy it would be to close down an Adventist church without prior provocation. The SDA church has NOT participated in political events as a whole. It goes with whatever the current government and leaves the members to do thier politicking among themselves. ...and if you think that there are others out there in the world that would not stage a protest of the closing of the Adventist Churches without provocation, I would submit that Adventist paranoia is fueling that view. I submit that everything you have said is true - now. I am speculating what might happen in the future. If our understanding of future eschatological events is true, I've always wondered what social and cultural events would precipitate wide scale persecution? Will it simply be the Sabbath issue? I don't know. I myself would rather not be a member of the paranoid Adventist group-think that is concerned with the Iluminati, Trilateral Commission, Opus Dei et al. And yes, the closing of Adventist churches would get lots of attention and raise protests from many different corners. I daresay that the various secular humanist societies will prove to be our best friends when confronted with these egregious violations of church-state relations. Alex ( I'm like you - "Lord I believe, help thou my unbelief") In my opinion, the postmodern culture has striped people of that part of the "people to people " contact that we so badly need. And people WANT that contact, that intamacy. So, it's just plain good sense to be involved in the community where you live. People appreciate differing points of view. Since we have Jesus' model, as seen in the bible and thru EGW, we have a most powerful message that shows love and grace to the world. But as to future events, I wonder if the bible meaning, [not the fixed times, as recorded in Daniel ] of future events have changed....What if, instead of the Sabbath, as being the decisive message of the world, it is grace instead? What if the angelic bowls that were poured out, were not chronilogical events, but rather fortelling of gobal situations that mankind needed to deal with....and failed because others loved tradition/the dark [as opposed to light] of men's minds...What if the angelic bowl poured into the sun was about global warming? At any rate, I am glad your church decided to be more loving and invited thier friends to church.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Overaged Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 No. Some people don't need that and it's wrong to push it on them. By "imposed baggage" I mean that there are wrong types of "friendship;" it happens all the time in Churches: Quote: 1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren' date=' see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:[/quote'] What is the opposite of "unfeigned?" Answer that and you answer my question. If you have ever been the recipient of this opposite I referred to, you would understand my comment better. Evangelism can be done many ways; sometimes one way or multiple ways in combination. Literature evangelism will always be very important. Maybe not when you just place it on someone's steps though! Where did that whacky idea come from? I have never heard of people doing that. It must be a localized thing. That's why the Church supports so many different ways of evangelism. Because there are so many different types of people with differing needs. I can tell you about times I have had over 30 people studying the Bible as a result of judiciously placed literature. I can also tell you about many people who have become Adventist Christians, just because they feel so loved and accepted in the Church they attend. Frienship, literature, and everything in between. Just don't cram everyone into the same box and say one is better than the other. Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)"I cannot know why suddenly the stormshould rage so fiercely round me in it's wrathBut this I know: God watches all my pathAnd I can trust""God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - OveragedFaith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ
Members phkrause Posted January 15, 2010 Members Posted January 15, 2010 At any rate, I am glad your church decided to be more loving and invited thier friends to church.... I do agree with you and Alex that personal evangelism and loving these new members. But at the same time the group evangelism is beneficial for many. The problem with the group evangelism is after is over and the new members try to mingle with the old. Alex can verafie (sp) this, we had a number of evangelistic meetings in NYC for the Jewish people, and they loved all the meetings but they really loved Dr. JM Hoffman the pastor. But getting to my point, after the meetings most if not all left because they couldn't get into the mix of all the old members. And on top of that, the things that were left out of the meetings like tithe, etc. they left because they were not interested in doing this. But most importantly was the love that the old member's didn't show these new members, and the fact that Dr. Hoffman left. And that's who they wanted to be there. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

P.S. your post spoke of the clovis church in past tense. may i ask why? thx Quote Pray Without Ceasing
