E-Sword the Sword of the LORD with an Electronic Edge

I have E-Sword in my computer which enables me to zip around the Bible at lightning speed almost, using the powerful capabilities of the search engine to rapidly type in key words, and phrases along with the Strong''s numbers with the ToolTip that I can point on the # and the Greek/Hebrew definition instantly pops up.

It has many other features, and I especially like the topic notes where I have thousands of Bible and EGW texts categorized for easy reference. There are now modules with EGW comments for Adventists as well as the Bible Readings for the Home which I also have in the dictionary section.

Then preparing documents in Word, or posting on forums is a snap using the copy and paste method.

The more you search the Scriptures with humble hearts, the greater will be your interest, and the more you will feel like exclaiming with Paul: "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!" Romans 11:33 101 {CCh 86.1}

Christ and His word are in perfect harmony. Received and obeyed, they open a sure path for the feet of all who are willing to walk in the light as Christ is in the light. If the people of God would appreciate His word, we should have a heaven in the church here below. Christians would be eager, hungry, to search the word. They would be anxious for time to compare scripture with scripture and to meditate upon the word. They would be more eager for the light of the word than for the morning paper, magazines, or novels.

Their greatest desire would be to eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God. And as a result their lives would be conformed to the principles and promises of the word. Its instruction would be to them as the leaves of the tree of life. It would be in them a well of water, springing up into everlasting life. Refreshing showers of grace would refresh and revive the soul, causing them to forget all toil and weariness. They would be strengthened and encouraged by the words of inspiration. 102 {CCh 86.2}

I agree, I have a shelf full of Bibles and EGW books as well as Bibles and all EGW in my computer.

We also need to learn to just take the Book in our hands and find the texts, know where each book is. So I do both, but I also believe in the advantages in efficiency of computer oriented programs and software.

I also believe in a dual application of this verse:

Dan 12:4 But you, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Now in the time of the end, since 1798, and especially after 1844, Bible knowledge has increased. This coincides with the writings of Ellen White. We also know that technology has and is increasing exponentially as well. Many will run to and fro, has an obvious rapid transitory meaning, cars, planes, spaceships.

Nah 2:3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.

Nah 2:4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightning.

Sounds like automobiles to me!

It should also be recognized that electronic Bible gadgetry may not be applicable to superior Bible knowledge. However, If I write a sermon or paper on my computer using E-Sword and EGW software and send it out in cyberspace, I can reach more people quicker than any other method, and that is worldwide.

That is why every single significant Adventist ministry, including the largest ones, are media driven.

The first thing I put on my e-sword was "Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge." That is the best cross reference program I have ever seen, and I use it constantly. It can be found at the e-sword website: http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html along with other Bible versions.

Next I put the "EGW scripture commentary" on there. It can be found at: http://www.sharpeningthesword.net/ along with many other SDA features, including the Sabbath School Quarterly.

Then I started adding different Bible versions for study and comparison. One of my favorites, and the one I usually quote from, is the King James 2000. I now have about 10 different versions of the Bible on there.

I also got "Ye Shall Recieve Power" which is an EGW daily devotional. It can also be found at:

Interesting Richard, Sharpening the Sword may have a couple more features since I was last their and snagged all they had.

I don't use any of the modules from E-sword downloads except the KJV, KJV +, RV, and that it. I don't keep any Sunday theology in my home. I do keep tabs on a few things Sunday though, like the Lighthouse Trails E-magazine.

They expose the "Christian Contemplative Spirituality mediums, too bad the Ohio Conference of SDA's made their list, a very dubious honor.

I know a guy who has over 1100 modules in his e-sword using two computers. I wonder if e-sword itself could be an idol?
