Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted January 18, 2010 Administrators Posted January 18, 2010 This is funny! The old Candid Camera was the best. I actually do get on crowded elevators and face everyone else, just to watch their reaction. It is amusing how uncomfortable it makes people, even if they know you. You can cut the tension a bit by announcing as the doors close, "I called this meeting to..." or start leading them in a rousing chorus of your favorite tune. Or just smile and nod knowingly at everyone or nobody in particular. Also try getting on an elevator with only one or two people and stand right next to them. They will likely move. Move with them. Facing them while right next to them may be too much, but try it sometime. Of course you can be subtle and just slowly and gradually shift your position in the elevator closer to them. They will likely mirror your movements to maintain their comfortable personal space and may even move closer to you if you subtly shift away from them. Muttering to yourself, scratching yourself vigorously, pacing, jumping up and down or stamping your feet are great ways to get people to get off at the next floor. The first time I noticed the shifting position and maintaining personal space thing was years ago when I was in academy. I was with a group of half a dozen or so that were standing and talking on one side of a large and mostly empty hallway. I shifted my position and noticed everyone moving with me, maintaining the same relative personal distances. I moved several times in different directions and the group moved with me. So I decided to be more intentional, and slowly moved across the hall, probably 10-15 feet or so. The group moved with me even though I was not the focus of attention or even doing much of the talking. Nobody noticed they had moved across the hall until I pointed it out to them and told them what I had done. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. Members phkrause Posted January 18, 2010 Members Posted January 18, 2010 This is pretty funny Stan, and Tom the old candid camera was the best. I used to laugh so hard that it hurt. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted January 18, 2010 Members Posted January 18, 2010 I used to love watching Candid Camera!!!! Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Kevin H Posted January 19, 2010 Moderators Posted January 19, 2010 One of my earliest memories was laughing when watching the old Candid Camera. Ever since then I've dreamed about someone some time some place when I least expect to come up to me and say... I felt a great loss when Alan Funt died. The early ones were fantastic, then came a bunch that might have occasionally had a good one, his son did a series a few years ago that was pretty good, but the original is still wonderful. Quote
