SivartM Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 For my Pathfinder classwork another Guide and I have to do a presentation to a group of elementary students (aka the other Pathfinders) on health principles, which must include "don't do drugs or drink alcohol" but beyond that it's up to us. Does anyone here have any ideas? I'd like to do something related to nutrition... my main concern is that (as usual) they will be bored to death (or at least pretend to be). How can we make this interesting for them? Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets." - Jesus
Outta Here Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 SivartM, use technology--make a video clip and include them as "actors". They will love to act out situations for you. Then, you and the other Guide can do the "serious" documentary-style acting. I think part of the requirement is to make a jingle too. Have them sing it with you. Our group made a power-point presentation to the group last year. They presented it with each of them (3) reading portions of the screen and then opening it up to discussion. At the end, they made a nice jingle that we all learned. Quote
SivartM Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks for the ideas! I like the idea of a "documentary" sort of video with them in it. Maybe we could combine this with the Christian Drama honor that I've been wanted to do for a while. :) Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Outta Here Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Ever hear of the NEW START program, Sivart? It's just an easy acronym to remember these principles for healthy living. Maybe you could use it in your project: N - nutrition E - exercise W - water S - sunshine T - temperance A - air R - rest T - trust in the Lord Quote
Members phkrause Posted January 26, 2010 Members Posted January 26, 2010 Ever hear of the NEW START program, Sivart? It's just an easy acronym to remember these principles for healthy living. Maybe you could use it in your project: N - nutrition E - exercise W - water S - sunshine T - temperance A - air R - rest T - trust in the Lord Its amazing how much of these things that EGW has mentioned 150 years ago and we are just now realizing these principals of healthful living. That are also in the Bible, were of course she got these from. A great thought Aubrey. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
