Woody Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I found this quote and felt that it was so valuable for married couples: Quote: "But time strips marriage of the romance with which imagination had clothed it, and then the thought finds entrance into the mind through Satan's suggestions, "We do not love each other as we supposed." Expel it from the mind. Do not linger over it. Let each, forgetful of self, refuse to entertain the ideas that Satan would be glad to have you cherish. He will work to make you suspicious, jealous of every little thing that shall furnish the least occasion, in order to alienate your affections from each other. . . . When the romance is gone, let each think, not after a sentimental order, how he or she can make the married life what God would be pleased to have it." {HP 203.3} What do you think? And do you have any romantic thoughts to add? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 REDWOOD this seems to be a good statement dgrimm60 Now dgrimm ... that's kind of a weak affirmation. Can't you do any better than that? Let's have some excitement and cake like you did for Ground Hogs day. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Of course EGW also makes this statement that does not give a glowing success rate: "There is not one marriage in one hundred that results happily, that bears the sanction of God." Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Liz Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Here is my romantic thought: Woman was made out of Man's rib. Why? The rib cage was made to protect vital organs. So by making a woman out of this material, a wife is to protect the man's heart, and when a wife is standing next her man (protecting his heart) the man's arm fall's naturally over the woman, thus protecting her. :) Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Please, support the March of Dimes.
Woody Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Cool. And very romantic. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Is this quote accurate Woody? I would have thought that if a marriage is sanction from God, the result would be happiness. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. teresaq Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 she is saying the marriages are not sanctioned of God is what i understand it to be saying. and i agree. i know people who have been married 30-40-50 years and their marriages glorify satan not God-they treat each other with contempt. i also know a relatively few whose marriage does reflect God better. Outta Here Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 [off.topic]Liz, another thought along those lines...Jesus, when hung on the cross, was struck with a spear in his side (some versions translate "side" as "rib"). His bride, the church, somehow failed to "protect" Him in that crucial moment...[/off.topic] Quote
Members abelisle Posted February 3, 2010 Members Posted February 3, 2010 Here's a poem I wrote for my wife. She Stole My Heart I gently move her arm from my chest As I roll out of bed for my morning run "Going running dear?" as if she wasn't sure Her blue eyes still clearly closed. The run starts slowly, more so now than before We are both aging together - she's handling it better Maybe she is because she has something of mine? She sure does - she has my heart. As the first miles flow by My heart is beating in my throat A feeling of heavy sludge heaving about Is this "my" heart reaching for the right rhythm of my run? My heart finally falls into line Beating in my chest now, not my throat The run ends as my wife meets me Wrapping her arms around my waist "Did you have a good run, dear?" She knows She has my heart The one she stole many years ago. Alex Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
