Twilight Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Just to share... In the old testament Sanctuary Service there was a time when the Leper was cleansed. Now the leper is representative of us having our sins cleansed. When we consider the ordinance we will notice something interesting. The blood was applied first. Then the oil. Then the outpouring of the oil. ------------------- The merits of the blood of the lamb are applied to the sinner first: Lev 14:14 And the priest shall take [some] of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put [it] upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: Then the gift of the indwelling Spirit and His sanctifying work is represented: Lev 14:17 And of the rest of the oil that [is] in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering: Then the outpouring of the Holy Spirit for "evangelism": Lev 14:18 And the remnant of the oil that [is] in the priest's hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD. Notice who applies all of these: Lev 14:12 And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them [for] a wave offering before the LORD: Isn't the Sanctuary Service so beautiful? So sublime? Your thoughts? Mark Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...

Oil on the thumb of the hand = Holy Spirit working on what we do. Oil on the foot = Holy Spirit working on where and how we walk. The Bible has a lot to say about the works of our hands and about walking in the way of the Lord. Yea, beautiful illustrations of the Christian life. Quote
Twilight Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 What I like is the order it sets out Gerry and Dgrimm. :-) You have the realisation of the malignity of sin. (The Sinners awareness of his condition). You have here the "coming of the Sinner to be cleansed". (Surrender by coming to the Sanctuary, the throne of God). Then you have the blood of Christ, His merits being applied. (The blood on the ear, hand and foot). Then you have the gift of the indwelling of the Spirit given. (The oil on the ear, hand and foot). Then you have the gift of the outpouring of the Spirit given for evangelism. (The pouring out of the oil). That should charm anyone... Mark :-) Quote The best wisdom is always second hand...
