Guest Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 John Smith started the day early having set his alarmclock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6 am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG) He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA) After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia ) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (made in MALAYSIA ), John decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA AND NOW HE'S HOPING HE CAN GET HELP FROM A PRESIDENT MADE IN KENYA Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 18, 2010 Members Posted February 18, 2010 My mom got a new Revereware teakettle (Revereware used to be top quality, made in the USA). The dumb thing leaked. She looked on the bottom of the kettle, only to find that it had been made in China. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Dottie Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Pam - - That happens to me often. I look at something that has a brand name I recognize and respect, whose products were always made in the U.S.A. Then I look at the tag, and most often it's made in China, or some other foreign country. But it is not always the fault of the manufacturer. If the costs to produce were less here, then manufacturing would increase here.* *Trying very hard to not be political. Quote
