Felix Florimon Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Dear fellow believers in Jesus Christ: I watched Pat Robertson's comment about Haiti's earthquake and I feel that the news media has done a stupendous job of twisting the meaning of his words in order to have Christians trying to ally the opinion of the secular world by attacking him. I have written a public letter to members of the US Congress (which I wish it could be read by many of their constituents)about the earthquake that took away over 200,000 precious lives in Haiti and what should be the real response of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ based on what is written in the Holy Scriptures. I also mention about other eight horrendous earthquakes so we could keep a rational perspective. I wish your feedback about this letter regarding Pat Robertson's comment, the loss of over 200,000 precious lives in Haiti, the love of God for every human on this earth and what response Jesus expects from us when something like this happens. For anyone who is really concerned please read my letter to the highest US public officials and if I said anything wrong to them or to all their constituents who may read such letter, you may feel free to tell me so through this forum. This public letter is posted at www.gcares.com (I really feel that God cares how we think, talk and behave regardless we believe in Him or not). FF Quote

Bravus: If we wish truth to prevail, what would be the best method? Should we shoot the messenger because we abhor his message? Or should we choose every sentence the messenger mentions and look for the facts that show what he is saying is something false and inaccurate? In my letter I did not defend Pat Robertson, I just mentioned that we should assure ourselves that what he said was not twisted all around in order do disregard other things the Bible teaches regarding how God’s children should think and do whether a calamity strikes killing believers and non believers and how we reconcile this with what we know about a loving and omniscient God. In order to know the truth I like to begin with the premise that we are all fallible humans, including myself, with the ability to be wrong. Could I get from you a break down of the things Pat Robertson said that are inaccurate with the facts showing why he is wrong in most of the things he said? FF Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 20, 2010 Members Posted February 20, 2010 You do bring up a very good point about all of us being very fallible individuals. We all make mistakes. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

karl Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 It just doesn't add up. For many years the Haitian people have been cursed with one of the most corrupt governments in the Western Hemisphere, so God hits them with an earthquake, to boot? Would that be just to rub it in? I don't see this as an act of judgment. Birth pang, yes. Judgment, no. I do like the way the Adventist church members have been relatively spared. With 200K dead, there should have been close to 7K Adventists dead because they are about 3.3% of the population Quote
