Neil D Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Spring forward your clock by 1 hour this weekend, which will begin this Saturday night. And sorry, but you lose an hour sleep....but you get to sleep in on sunday, ....right? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 10, 2010 Members Posted March 10, 2010 No, you set your clocks back an hour, so you lose an hour. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

The way I remember it, and this isn't original with me, as was taught in grade school, "Spring forward, fall back". Google ought to know. Quote Lift Jesus up!!
SivartM Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Yup, we're supposed to put our clocks one hour ahead. Is it that time already? *sigh* Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 10, 2010 Members Posted March 10, 2010 No, it's "Spring back, Fall forward." You guys are going to get all messed up in your times. Neil D Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Wowzers....you guys sure are serious.... Can't even send out a warning about Daylight Savings Time and then the thread jumps to [dramatic serious music intro mode-on] The Anti-Christ!!! Guys....it's just a reminder!!!!! GreatLakesGramma Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I don't like daylight savings time. It makes no sense at all. The days are already longer this time of year. If they want to set the clocks ahead for more daylight at the end of the day, they should do it in the winter. But I actually have an easier time adjusting to the time change this time of year than in the fall. I can get up earlier, but I can't sleep later. I will wake up at the same time, no matter what time I go to bed. Then I will have to take naps at odd hours of the day, to avoid getting overtired and having an autoimmune attack. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Woody Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Spring forward your clock by 1 hour this weekend, which will begin this Saturday night. And sorry, but you lose an hour sleep....but you get to sleep in on sunday, ....right? You guys have it all wrong. You're back in the dark ages. With the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chili ... our times have been all wacked off. The Earth is off it's axis and so the amount of time we spring forward and fall back ... needs to be adjusted or this will cause GREAT difficulties down the road. Please I plead ... be up with the times and be responsible with your time adjustments so as not to cause the earth's axis to fall off further. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Quote: be up with the times and be responsible with your time adjustments so as not to cause the earth's axis to fall off further. Um...."Earth Axis is gonna fall further off"....? I hate to ask this...I know I am getting set up for a snappy comeback.....but my curiousity is welling up.... "Fall further off" what????? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 It's AXIS ... you little .... Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Neil D Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 I believe there is already a wabble in the spin on the axis.......The Earth's axial tilt varies between 22.1° and 24.5° So, I am not sure what you mean by "fall off the axis".... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Google it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
SivartM Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Do you think... that kiwis are making the earth fall off its axis? Maybe really heavy kiwis? And are we talking about birds or fruit? Neil D Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Google it. AWwwwwww....give me a hint.... ....[i did google it...where do you think that I got the range for the angle of the axis???] Translation: Where do I look? Members phkrause Posted March 11, 2010 Members Posted March 11, 2010 Thanks Neil for reminding me about DST! I wish they would just leave the time alone. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
LifeHiscost Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Thanks Neil for reminding me about DST! I wish they would just leave the time alone. pk Maybe you've heard this before, but just in case not___ I believe it was the native American indians that said something like this, " Only a white man would cut off the bottom of a blanket, sew it on the top and believe he had a longer blanket." Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Neil D Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Do you think... that kiwis are making the earth fall off its axis? Maybe really heavy kiwis? And are we talking about birds or fruit? Aren't people from New Zealand called "Kiwis"? Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Moderators Nan Posted March 12, 2010 Moderators Posted March 12, 2010 Back when I was a girl, Kiwifruit were known as Chinese Gooseberries. They were popularised in NZ in the late 70's.....and the China connection seems to be forgotten (I have no idea from where the plant originated). Just some trivia :) Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted March 12, 2010 Moderators Posted March 12, 2010 The kiwi fruit originated in China, and the kiwi name was originated by New Zealand marketers. All of which is easier to deal with than Daylight Confusion Time. Move to Arizona. They don't mess with it. LD Quote LD
Ted Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Umm...I have this here compass. Real perty wit a fluorescein color. In order to be literally correct, should I face North when the time changes? Or is it East? We must always remember the 613 Mitzvot. Quote GnuPG/PGP key: 0xB07F9AAE
