Neil D Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I really don't mind this type of clothing on women...I also realize that it is not practical all the time, nor for many occassions.... However, it is a rather pleasent looking dress.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Amelia Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Hummm not sure why this is in the humor section..... Actually, I saw a couple of styles that I wore way back in grade school/jr.high. The whole look of a dress can change with the type and color/print of fabric used. My mother was a fantastic seamstress and made many of my clothes until her passing. Administrators Naomi Posted March 2, 2005 Administrators Posted March 2, 2005 Very interesting! Actually I like some of the dresses, but they would not be practical in my world. I could just see my reps &/or clients if I make my business calls dressed in that type of clothing. Amelia, just realized why this is in the humor section ... making sales calls in that type of clothing would be the humor. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Administrators Gail Posted March 2, 2005 Administrators Posted March 2, 2005 When I first became an Adventist, I used to wear stuff like this- Can you believe it??? The "Little House on the Prairie" look made it possible to find patterns for long dresses. I even had one that had lots of buttons down the front and up the sleeve to the elbow I wasn't sure from the last picture if that family was that man's children or all his wives... Moderators Nan Posted March 3, 2005 Moderators Posted March 3, 2005 This is way off topic - but I could not help but notice the requests to donate to ADRA on the site, specifically the tsunami appeal. I wonder if ADRA has to give permission for a link to appear on nonofficial church sites. The clothing is quaint and I imagine comfortable - but I would be classed as way beyond the line as I wear long pants most of the time (as outer wear I mean, not the type of underwear advertised on that site ). Michelle Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 THe jumpers are nice. The rest--well, let's just say I'm glad we dont' have a mandate to wear these! Especially the boots. They look very uncomfortable to me (but even the slightest heel throws my back out--I prefer Birkenstocks and Doc Martens). If I had to wear a had all the time I'd go stark raving mad--I've never been able to STAND a hat unless it's a baseball cap and I've got a ponytail. They make my head itch--even when I was little and wore cowboy hats everywhere, they still drove me nuts and I'd rip them off and fling them away. M Quote

I had some which I wore to church and things like that. I loved them! However, even then they didn't work for professional wear. Moderators Nan Posted March 6, 2005 Moderators Posted March 6, 2005 I had another look at the clothes and some of the dresses are great. I also noticed the reference to "majestic" sizes - dont think I have heard that term before. The virtue of using bloomers to keep active little girls modest is a bit lost on me, I think long pants/trousers are more appropriate. The picture of a lady going horseriding wearing a long skirt did amuse me too. But - they have convictions and follow them and that is to be admired. Quote
jewel Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I cannot imagine myself in those clothes!! I definitely dress modestly, but those are waaaaay over the top. I work at Mount Vernon Academy in Ohio and have never seen anyone dressed like that here or at the church. But, maybe it's okay for some people and that's fine....just not me! Quote Isaiah 1:18
