Bickering in Heaven?

Seems we Christians like nothing better than bickering with each other, here on earth. Will that go on in heaven, too? EGW says we take the characters we develop here to heaven with us, so it seems there's no last minute twinkling-of-an-eye trasformation to get us off the hook. Or is our secret assumption that it's only the people who agree with us who will make it to heaven? Seems to me we should perhaps be making a start on (with the Spirit's help) building the characters that will let us get along together in heaven for eternity right here and now...

Bravus,

I'm trying my best. I think God lead me to this forum to begin a testing process. A difficult and tricky one too.

Maybe if I met some of my fellow posters in the "real" world, things would be more pleasant? Maybe if I could go for a run or a walk with them, we could see each other in a better light?

Maybe if we prayed with and for each other, we would genuinely love each other?

Maybe if I prayed and studied my Bible more, I would be shown ways to bicker less and love more?

Alex (like I said, I'm trying bwink )

We are our worst enemy - sad but true.

But is all bickering bad? Wouldn't it be boring if we all agreed over every little thing? There would be no discussions, someone would say something and everyone would agree then silence.

Bickering is not synonymous with disagreeing or with discussion.

One persons deeply involved discussion is another's bickering.

I don't think the people that get to heaven will

be bickering with each other....I just can not see

that in the heaven made new...

as for as our character will it be our charater

that we take to heaven or will it be JESUS

character in us that we take to heaven

dgrimm60

I believe that's what Bravus was trying to get across. At least that was my read.

Excellent. Well done dgrimm. :)

When we get to Heaven ... we will certainly have the character of Jesus. For He will plant it in us before we arrive. There can't be any sin in Heaven as it is here on this earth in each of us.

But... that process should be starting now, right? So each of us should be bickering less...?

(Incidentally, Woody my friend, I want to acknowledge that *you* have been doing amazing conciliatory, friendly, connected, kind posting lately - very impressive indeed)

Thanks Bravus. Now to your question. Yes, perhaps some will bicker less and some might even be bickerless. But many will continue to bicker all their way to Heaven.

Just my 2 cents worth

Discussion and disagreement are good. But it becomes bickering when it gets hostile. There will be no hostility in heaven, and we'd better repent and let God get that out of our systems now, or we won't be there.

What's bickering to one is not bickering to another. Does God have a definition?

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

"You have not correctly represented our faith. You have injured the cause of God by your manifest love of gain; and your love to trade and bicker has not been for your good, nor for the spiritual health of those with whom you are brought in contact. You are a sharp man in trade, and you often overreach. You have peculiar tact for looking out for the best end of the bargain, watching for your own good rather than that of others. If a man would cheat himself, and you were to be advantaged thereby, you have let him do it. This is not following the golden rule, doing unto others as you would wish them to do by you." {4T 350.2}"

Might have some thoughts in there for our situation. ??

Can't we all just get along? Sure, lets just compromise-ok? Didn't Jesus do that? Didn't Jesus finally admit that the ten commandments were too hard to keep and say "My grace is sufficient"?

Amen Dr. Rich. Good post.

I think one of the main reasons we bicker is impatience, we need to get results in the foreseeable future, and have a plan of action, and can't wait to get consensus by the slow patient listening method. But if we have all of eternity to carry out our plans, differences of opinion would not generate the same kind of stress.

And if you don't agree, I don't see how you could stand living with me for ever and ever, so I guess you don't belong.

That's not the way I understand His Words in entirety.

"“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."John 15:5 NKJV

"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."Matthew 19:26 NKJV

Grace? Hmmmmmmm. Are you changing your tune, Dr. Rich?
