bonnie Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 CNN.com has a good article on what we can expect to receive when the new Health bill is passed. http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/03/16/health.care.immediate/index.html?hpt=T1 1.Eliminatng caps on your total benefits Wonder if he is eliminating the caps on medicare? He is eliminating some services or cutting back on home health nursing services as well 2.Pre-existing conditions will be no bar to obtaining coverage Good, then I can cancel my insurance and wait to buy till I need it. Then I can cancel when the issue is medically taken care of.He does fail to explain what this will do to the premiums of everyone else 3.Children will be covered to age 26 For an age group that is in the cheapest time why can't they see to their own. 4.Small business tax credits Which is going to do little when the premiums skyrocket 5.Free preventive care Will physicals be free? As there never is any free who gets to pay for this? Of course getting hit with increased expenses won't stop our premiums from shooting thru the roof 5.Appeals process if denied coverage This is great. At this time there is no process to appeal denied coverage from medicare. Oh wait, maybe he means the appeals process already in place with insurance companies and thinks he is responsible for that 6.Help for seniors who fell into the Part D "donut hole" This is a big whoop. 250.00 for prescriptions after the donut hole has been reached. Wonder if they figured out who will pay the rest? Maybe if they had kept their meddling mitts of the private insurance I carried I would not need to worry about it.Or just let the supplemental insurance company cover prescriptions. Eliminatng caps on your total benefits Pre-existing conditions will be no bar to obtaining coverage Children will be covered to age 26 Small business tax credits Free preventive care Appeals process if denied coverage Help for seniors who fell into the Part D "donut hole" Please note that this is what Democrats "say" would go into effect in the first year after passage. Actually CNN lied about the "donut hole" coverage which THEY reported on Oct 19 won't go into effect until 2020. Although, who knows? With everything happening behind closed doors all we can get is hearsay. CNN is well-known to be a Democratic Party mouthpiece. They are just trying to put a nice spin on things. The fact is that ObamaCare is still shrouded in secrecy. You haven't seen any direct quotes from the Bill, which is supposed to be voted on any minute. The whole debacle has been a travesty - an abortion, if you will, of the conception of republican government our forefathers bought with their blood and bequeathed to us. Quote

karl Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 "The initial blush of President Barack Obama's health care triumph immediately gives way to a sober political reality -- he must sell the landmark legislation to an angry and unpredictable electorate, still reeling from the recession,” the AP’s Liz Sidoti writes. “Voters may not buy it. And that could mean a disastrous midterm election year for Obama and his fellow Democrats.” On an issue that’s still stuck in a rut: “It will be difficult to change this dynamic before November, especially since Obama's powers of persuasion over the last year have been ineffective in changing public opinion on several issues,” Slate’s John Dickinson writes. “Given that grim landscape, Obama and congressional Democrats are making the purest test of whether voters want what they say they do -- politicians who follow their conviction no matter what the consequences. That was a key promise of Obama's campaign, though so too was a new era of bipartisanship that is nowhere in evidence.” The sale: “President Obama plans to open a new campaign this week to persuade skeptical Americans that the bill holds immediate benefits for them and addresses the nation’s shaky fiscal condition. Republicans said they would seek to repeal the measure, challenge its constitutionality and coordinate efforts in statehouses to block its implementation.” ------------ Can't wait for another shipload of Obama-emanations. bonnie Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Very shortly I am contacting my insurance agent and see if I can drop my supplemental coverage for my husband and I. If I can force a insurance company to cover anything why not wait until a health issue arises. Once it is corrected drop it again till the next time. If I can drop our supplemental it will save 400.00 per month. Even if the insurance premiums go sky high if you only have to pay for a short time it would not be so bad Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. karl Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I got this as a PS today on a personal email from a friend who lives in British Columbia. 'Twas a dark day for America when Obamacare got passed. Watch American medicine go steadily downhill from here on, just as it did in Canada. When you put government in charge of medicine, civil servants start to make decisions on what care patients can and cannot receive and under what circumstances. After all, they need to save money, right? At least that's the way it went in Canada. Canadian dental care is second to none in the world. It is private. Canadian medicine, by contrast, is abominable. It is socialized. That's not even addressing the abrogation of the rights of private citizens and corporations embedded in the bill. Quote

I have relatives in Canada. They confirm the same. Illogical it may be but many are willing to forgo freedom to receive treatment and Dr's care in a timely fashion than going back to pre-socialized medicine. Even if it lacks in many area's the desire to have the government take care of their personal health issues gives a certain security.Except of course when th issue is serious then they make a beeline for the border. That is not border as in other countries with socialized medicine but the evil US. Wonder where we can go Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Happy with Obama,NO I have not become a socialist. But under his watch if I have to pay more I will take what I can get. Might as well join the parasites on our public system. Dr. Shane Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 My health insurance premiums more than pay for any preventative checks I will get. I am just happy that the insurance companies will finally have to pay for what I buy the insurance for in the first place. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
