Neil D Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 that the seeds that you planted in your "pot hothouse", not only germinate, but grow really good....until you put the hot house outside to harden the plants....an then they start to yellow...and wilt...??? Moderators LynnDel Posted March 21, 2010 Moderators Posted March 21, 2010 Maybe they need slower introduction to all that natural sunlight. You might have burned the chlorophyl (sp) right out of them! Just kidding, of course... I really don't know the reason for your plants' illnes, but my experience is they don't like sudden changes, so maybe gradually increasing the hothouse time outdoors would be better. Quote LD

GreatLakesGramma Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 When you put your plants outside to harden, you have to bring them back inside every night, and gradually increase the amount of time you leave them out. After about 2 weeks, they will be ready to leave out round the clock, and then you can plant them, unless you're still expecting frost. Also, put them in a sheltered place during the first week, and make sure their roots do not dry out. If it's windy out, they will dry out quickly. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

That's why in Mass we try not to plant outside until after mother's day, because we can get frost till than and sometimes till after even. pk Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. GreatLakesGramma Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 We can't plant frost-sensitive plants until after Memorial Day, because we get frost almost up to the end of May.
