Obama, Pelosi Are Big Losers from Obamacare

Congress passed the most radical healthcare legislation in history.

We did not win that battle, but won a more important battle: we won public opinion.

When we at the League of American Voters started our campaign to stop Obamacare last summer -- polls showed Americans overwhelmingly backed it.

Today, polls show Americans overwhelmingly oppose Obamacare.

On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi's Congress decided to oppose the will of the American people and they voted for this radical plan.

Pelosi and her gang will regret that decision.

Though we lost this battle in Congress, we have won a much larger battle.

We have awoken a sleeping giant!

The American people now know that Obama and the Democrats in Congress have little regard for their opinion -- not to mention the legislative process.

The Democrats employed a nuclear option to bypass the Senate filibuster using "reconciliation."

Millions of Americans who had hoped President Obama and the Congress would be pragmatic, now know this hope was simply an illusion.

In the middle of the greatest economic crisis in the nation's modern history, President Obama rammed through Congress a plan that will cost taxpayers $1 trillion and add new taxes as it adds 30 million new people to the health care rolls.

With huge mandates on private insurers, those of us who pay insurance today will soon see our rates rise dramatically.

Many of you who have followed this debate know the truth and dangers of Obamacare.

We now face looming battles ahead.

Obama is already promising to give citizenship to 12 million illegal aliens.

This is nothing more than attempt to add new Democratic voters to the electoral rolls to skew elections in 2010 and 2012.

The Democrats are also promising to push through Cap-and-Trade legislation that will add massive costs for energy upon businesses and consumers.

Other Democrats are pushing for new media controls over talk radio and the internet.

We have a huge job ahead of us.

We cannot give up!

I know some of our supporters may be disappointed by the passing of Obamacare this past weekend.

But, as Dick Morris, our chief strategist points out, we did not lose. Dick says the Democrats have crafted a "suicide pact."

By flagrantly ignoring the will of the American people -- they have ignited a firestorm of anger across America that will haunt them.

Yes, going against the will of the people could be very dangerous for the Demos.

What I don't understand is how the Demos have been calling Pelosi the most powerful Speaker in 100 years. Give me a break. She couldn't even get all the demos to support the bill.

Yet on the otherside ... the Republicans we united in their support of what the Americans wanted defeated.

Doesn't sound to me like she did that great of a job.
