Moderators Nan Posted March 29, 2010 Moderators Posted March 29, 2010 Colour prejudice is such an evil. Quote
Dottie Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Our legislature has decided that tanning salons need to be taxed. Some are saying that it is discrimination against pale-skinned people. (Always something) Quote
karl Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Gotta have sameness. No tanning. Everyone needs to be anemic in appearance. After all, we're all victims. Why don't you look like one? Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted April 1, 2010 Moderators Posted April 1, 2010 I support everyone's right to as many melanomas as they want... Quote Truth is important
karl Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I support everyone's right to as many melanomas as they want... You should be opposed, however, to socialized medicine's desire to tax us all for the care of these self-induced melanomas. Quote
Moderators Nan Posted April 1, 2010 Author Moderators Posted April 1, 2010 Bravus and I live in a country where we are taxed to provide a public health system that is available to any citizen or permanent resident who chooses to use it, free of charge. This system coexists with a voluntary private health insurance industry. It is not perfect.....but does not seem to produce such argument and apprenhension as the mooted US system. I realise there are features in your scheme that do ring alarm bells for many. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted April 1, 2010 Administrators Posted April 1, 2010 Oooo.... is this thread turning political on me? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 It would be a shame that during a discussion we were restricted to only non-religious and non-political views. :( Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
Administrators Gail Posted April 1, 2010 Administrators Posted April 1, 2010 I'm only trying to save myself from receiving PMs saying this thread should be moved! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Moderators Nan Posted April 1, 2010 Author Moderators Posted April 1, 2010 At the risk of further politicisation.....there are a lot of potential 'self-induced illnesses' - related to smoking, alcohol and drugs, over eating, misuse of vehicles, etc, besides melanomas. This country has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Certainly there are heavy taxes/excise on tobacco and alcohol, which could be considered to partially fund their own healthcare, but all the above diseases are cared for in our public hospital system. Moderators Nan Posted April 1, 2010 Author Moderators Posted April 1, 2010 And truly I only intended some gentle humor when I made the OP!!! Quote
Administrators Gail Posted April 1, 2010 Administrators Posted April 1, 2010 And truly I only intended some gentle humor when I made the OP!!! I know you did, but for some the topic is far beyond gentle! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
