Dr. Shane Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I wish he would have opened up more areas to drilling than he did. It still isn't enough to make us energy independent but it is enough to create a lot of high-paying jobs which is what our ill economy needs. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... karl Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I wish he would have opened up more areas to drilling than he did. It still isn't enough to make us energy independent but it is enough to create a lot of high-paying jobs which is what our ill economy needs. What our ill economy needs is less taxation and less regulation. Taking the restraints off offshore drilling is just one small step in the huge list of get-government-out-of-the-way needs of this country. The costs of federal regulations are enormous. Thomas Hopkins, an economist at the Rochester Institute of Technology, estimated that regulations cost more than $600 billion per year. Other economists have estimated the regulatory costs amount between $810 billion and $1.7 trillion. Regulatory costs, using Hopkins' more conservative figure, are higher than federal individual income tax revenues. In a 1996 poll, fifty-two percent of mid-sized firms said that government regulation was their biggest concern. They were more concerned about regulations than about making a profit, paying taxes, or controlling health-care costs. Clearly, reducing the regulatory burden is vital to create the basis for robust economic growth. Economically speaking, government sucks. Quote
Woody Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 It's interesting to note that when Sarah was proclaiming 'Drill Baby Drill' .... that she was demonized by the Obama crowd. But now that Obama is following her advice ... just look at all the support. Wow !!! Isn't Obama great? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Dr. Shane Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I heard today that opening the off-shore areas is attached to the cap and trade bill. That means it probably will not get taxed. The Republicans are likely to stop cap and trade in the Senate, which is probably a good thing. Obama is a wonderful, loving, caring, compassionate person. I think there is little doubt about that. But that doesn't mean he is right about everything. He has good intentions, I will grant him that. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

bonnie Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Some are really deceived by his celebrity status. Canada Free Press Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is plotting a new massive job-killer that the American people can’t afford Obama to Crush Economy with Massive CO2 Taxes as Early as Next Week By Fred Dardick Thursday, April 1, 2010 imageAbandoning all loyalty to the democratic processes this nation holds dear, President Obama has made the decision that getting energy tax legislation through Congress with the approval of the American people is just too much of a pain to bother with. Instead he will have the EPA declare as early as next week that CO2 is a dangerous global warming gas and will start regulating its emissions immediately. Obama’s promise to open up vast stretches of ocean on the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico to energy exploration is simply a ruse to soften up the public for soon to be announced draconian regulations. Similar to how Obama used the $50 million dollar study on healthcare companies competing across state lines to sell ObamaCare as a bipartisan bill, his recent decree allowing energy companies to explore (not drill, not produce energy from … just explore) new stretches of ocean for oil is also meant to be a trivial, yet impressive enough sounding carrot for conservatives right before he stuffs his Marxist trash down their throats. House Minority Leader John Boehner responded to Obama by saying “At the same time the White House makes today’s announcement, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is plotting a new massive job-killer that the American people can’t afford.” Every American who doesn’t live in a technology adverse commune in California will now pay even more of their hard earned cash to the federal government for absolutely no good reason. Put simply, it means $8 for a gallon of gas and 2-3 times higher electricity bills. It also means the loss of millions more sorely needed jobs as businesses are hit with higher operating costs and the transfer of whatever remains of our manufacturing sector to China where energy is cheaper and they aren’t so concerned about CO2. In the first week alone, American businesses estimated that ObamaCare will cost them $14 billion. By most estimates this latest Obama nightmare will be far more expensive and may literally destroy the economy in less than 20 years. All because of climate science that has been clearly exposed as inaccurate and untrustworthy. Obama may or may not be a communist plant sent to destroy America, but he sure is acting like one. France announced this month that its energy tax was being postponed indefinitely in order not to "damage the competitiveness of French companies. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama and the Democrats cannot wait to impose a carbon tax on the US. And if they can’t achieve it through legislation, they will do so through executive order. I can't stomach the vapid pollyanna sentiments of liberals, but I may have to move to France if they turn out to be more conservative than the US. Quote
