I felt it here in Loma Linda. I was across the street talking to my neighbors and didn't notice it until the neighbor kid,standing by his car, mentioned it. It was a very gentle swaying and seemed to last about a minute or more. I'm about 110/120 miles from the border. Not real powerful here.

Yep, it was a good one, rocked and rolled for about 30 seconds. No damage, but this one made me go outside for a change. I guess it was a 6.9 in Mexicali. Yep, it is the end times for sure. I live near Loma Linda.

Hey Doug, I didn't know you are in Loma Linda. I live only about 30 minutes away, to the east of you. I felt the earthquake very well. It rocked our house good. I felt it in my sleep and it went on shaking for about 15 seconds after I woke up.

Naw, I've lived here all my life, except for a few years in Europe and Washington state.

Some of my family live where there's tornados (OK., Tex., TN) but I'll take earthquakes any day.

They're saying now it was 7.2. I went through one that was 7.7 and lasted over a minute. There was no damage to any of the buildings. Only one person was killed in the 7.7: a child sleeping by a fireplace was killed by a falling brick. So far, I haven't heard of anyone being hurt in this one.

Hi John, What's shakin? Last I checked it was a 7.2 in Mexicali.About the only civilization 30 miles east of Eden would be Banning?Beaumont?Whitewater?Cabazon? I've never been to Calexico/Mexicali so I don't know haw far that is from us. I'm guessing that you'd be 30miles closer than me. We really haven't had a good one around here (thank the Lord)since the twin shakers of 1994(??)Landers/Big Bear. This seemed just a gentle reminder.I have some friends who lived in Sylmar and were in bed when that one struck.It knocked the pictures off the wall covering the floor with glass,and turned their dresser over on their bed.When they were finally able to get out of bed they had to run,completely undressed, across the glass to get to their kids room. They said it was pretty scarey.Has there been any damage reports from the border yet?

Maybe that quake in SoCal was caused by the illegals' stampede for the US?

The epicenter was near the town of Guadalupe Victoria, not far from Mexicali. There's an active volcano in that area. The article about it says 3 people were killed and at least 100 were injured.

Yes, that's it. Banning and Beaumont are really together, kinda like Redlands and Loma Linda. Each about five miles apart.

There was a bad earthquake centered in Sylmar in 1971. Is that the one you mean? It destroyed the Veterans Hospital there so that they had to build the new one in Loma Linda. They built the new one on top of an earthquake fault. It's right across the street from where we lived. (If you know Loma Linda very well, I grew up on Cole Street, near the train tracks.)

Our new-born daughter was almost killed in the '92 earthquake. My wife had just picked her up from the couch seconds before our big brick bookcase was knocked over onto the couch where she'd been alseep. Ellen White says the angels often keep people from being hurt, and my wife believes that was one time it happened.

I was working with a guy who lived 2 miles from the epicenter of the Big Bear quake. He said you'd have to be there to believe it.My other friends were living in Sylmar during the Northridge quake. They were about 5 miles from the epicenter.After living in Californey for most of my life, I still get a kick out of those people who live in flood,blizzard, tornado, and hurricane areas, who are scared to live here for fear of "all the earthquakes"!!Do you go to church in Banning?
