Moderators Bravus Posted April 5, 2010 Moderators Posted April 5, 2010 I don't think there's a (legal, and therefore safe from many viruses and other nasties) place to download Excel, and it's very large indeed to download anyway. I'd say your best bets if you need to do some quick spreadsheet work is to download one of the free open-source ones like OpenOffice or to use the free online spreadsheet in Google Docs. There might be a learning curve, but you can probably learn either in the time it would take to download and install Excel anyway, and be free forever from the 'Microsoft Tax'. Amelia Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 The problem is, the program I need to work with is an Excel program. I've already tried Google docs and it isn't at all compatable. Alot of the spreadsheet comes out garbage. I am sooooooo up to here with my computers getting hit by viruses. Moderators Bravus Posted April 5, 2010 Moderators Posted April 5, 2010 OpenOffice should open and save Excel files perfectly, I believe. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted April 5, 2010 Moderators Posted April 5, 2010 Looks like you *can* also download Excel direct from Microsoft free for evaluation for 60 days. I'd thought you might have to download the whole of Office. Might be worth giving that a go (just google 'download Excel'). Quote Truth is important

I'm not sure how fast your necessity but I purchased Microsoft Home and Student, verifiable Microsoft product with keys, on EBay motivated as a result of not being able to download some attachments. It carries a suite including Excel, maybe more than you need, but it was half as expensive as that provided in Wal-Mart. Also I have AVG and RegCure security systems which have removed all of my security problems. That coupled with Mozilla Firefox firewall. Joy!! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Amelia Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 I have Norton, AVG and Avast. Still I get [censored] and I don't know where it's coming from. I have antivirus on my email too. All this has happened in the past 3 weeks. LifeHiscost Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Probably part of my lack of problems comes from having a small town ISP plus shutting down my computer most of the time that I'm not actually online. I've been notified more than once onLine, not to enter a certain URL address as they were known to carry malware. I'm not positive but recalling its' profile I'm satisfied it was probably RegCure that had the service. I also will run a computer scan almost everytime I shut down, especially if I've been surfing the web which would be once a day, as well as an automatic daily update of security downloads.
