In another discussion on a different topic, we kind of got off the subject and onto the enclosed posts below. I decided this would be worthwhile discussing here to preserve the other topic, and to facilitate study of the questions engendered below. I will start with a challenge put to me by another forum member in this other topic, followed by my reply, and then anyone interested is invited to reply.

Therefore, Daniel and Revelation was authorized by God.

You will never find anywhere that Jesus ratified or verified anything else or any other writer. Mohammad, Martin Luther, Nostradamus, Joseph Smith, EGW, Paul, Luke, James, Jude and the unknown writer(s) of Hebrews and 1st and 2nd Peter were never authorized by God. What you will find is that the writer's own words have God speaking to them, which is in itself is a direct link to what Jesus warned about in Matthew 24:4-5.

If you find fault with this and can prove it by using words from scripture that was authorized by Jesus as shown above, then please do.

Thanks...I feel very passionate about the Bible's inspiration, and credibility. Without God's Word; I would be dead. I realize I am far from perfect; some days I just want to kick myself for saying or doing certain things - yet "the word of the Lord endures forever;" telling me the path to take in trying to make things right. When I see someone trying to preach a message that large sections of the Bible "cause confusion" "are not true" or are "not the words of Jesus;" I know from personal experience that such theories are not true. (1 John 1:1-3).

Another excellent post, and very true.

I suppose I should have posted the text of the scripture which I referred to above. It is just beyond belief for me to know that there are people who would say these are not the words of Jesus to His people today:

1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

1Jn 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

When it comes to the Bible; everyone can do this, no matter who they are; everyone can give a testimony that God's Word is true.

I would like to continue addressing a line of thought put forth elsewhere on this forum by Dr Rich, wayfarer, and Musicman...

Quote:

Here, we have an example, supported in principle, by atleast 3 people on this forum; but by many others outside. This kind of thing gives a very wrong idea about the Bible, and about Christianity, so my intentions for a bit now will be to try to show, from Adventist and other teachings, how the entire Bible; and it's writers are in fact inspired, and appointed by God.

I am very grateful to the Adventist Church, which taught me to value the teachings of not just ourselves, but that of others, where it can be seen to be true. I will try to share some of what I have learned from all these sources, in the hope that confidence in the Bible can be kindled or renewed in others. To start, in addressing the quote from Dr Rich above; I submit the following:

Quote:
18. Truth Unhurt.

Truth gathers itself spotless and unhurt after all our surrenders, and

concealments, and partisanship — never hurt by the treachery or ruin of

its best defenders, whether Luther, or William Penn, or St. Paul. We

answer, when they tell us of the bad behavior of Luther or Paul: “Well,

what if he did? Who was more pained than Luther or Paul?” We attach

ourselves violently to our teachers and historical personalities, and think

the foundation shaken if any fault is shown in their record. But how is the

truth hurt by their falling from it? The law of gravity is not hurt by every

accident, though our leg be broken. No more is the law of justice by our

departure from it.

A. J. Froude.

Now this is a very powerful quote, and I would like to invite people to see if they can think of the scripture that would support it. I will look forward to all replies. I'm out of time for now but will be back!

Luke 24:27

(27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

This verse shows us that Jesus used all the scriptures

Galatians 3:29

(29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Good point; and I would add that Jesus also said: "The Scriptures cannot be broken."

"People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)

"I cannot know why suddenly the storm

should rage so fiercely round me in it's wrath

But this I know: God watches all my path

And I can trust"

Another point is that Revelation has many quotes from other books of the Bible.

Galatians 3:29

(29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
