Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted April 20, 2010 Members Posted April 20, 2010 I'm waiting to hear whether or not I would be a good adoptive "mom" for a 6 yr old Golden Retriever male who loves people. The dog would be a "therapy" dog for me. Here's a picture of him..his name is Daniel... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Administrators Gail Posted April 20, 2010 Administrators Posted April 20, 2010 When will you know, Pam? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted April 20, 2010 Author Members Posted April 20, 2010 the coordinator emailed me and said it might take a couple of days before I know for sure. The family that gave him up for adoption is wanting him back, and that's creating a problem. He had bad ear infections, skin allergies, a broken tooth with an abscess when the Rescue Team got him. They got him all fixed up now though. I can't imagine why they would even consider giving the dog back to that family! SivartM Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Yay! He looks like a nice dog. I hope they'll give him to you instead of his old family. Dottie Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 He's beautiful, and looks very wise. As long as he's not rambunctious. I'd love to have a golden, but I have a rambunctious nine-year-old. One bouncy child in the house is enough. . . Quote
Neil D Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Golden Retrievers are VERY SMART dogs... My former BIL brought a couple of them to our house, which had a large yard, fenced with a gate. One of those chain-linked fence gates with a horse-shoe latch... Now the GR that were brought to us, temporarily, were Mother and son combo. And they were bored with just wondering around in our fairly large yard....So, between the both of them, they opened the gate and ran off in the one acre brier patch that we had. Yeah, son was on the gate, attempting to push the gate open....Mom had one paw on the gate, and one of the fence and was raising up the horseshoe latch to get out... No one taught them, they figured it out.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw

Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted April 23, 2010 Author Members Posted April 23, 2010 I got a call today from the Adoption coordinator who told me that the "foster parents" of the dog (Daniel) rejected my application because I "didn't fit the bill."... the coordinator couldn't believe it and tried to tell them that I'd be a perfect fit. But the foster parents have the final word. So I don't have a dog. I cried all afternoon I felt so bad... SivartM Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Do you have the foster parents' email address? Everyone here could write to them and tell them how great you would be with Daniel. :D Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you.
