Stan Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, lays a memorial wreath today during Anzac Day ceremonies at Camp Pleasantville in St. John’s. The ceremony commemorates the 1915 First World War battle at Gallipoli on Turkey’s Dardanelle Peninsula. The Royal Newfoundland Regiment was the only North American unit to take part in the battle, which ended in a stalemate. Anzac is an acronym for the Australia New Zealand Army Corps.
