Administrators Gail Posted April 30, 2010 Administrators Posted April 30, 2010 "Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled." Matthew 5:6, KJV What does this feel like, to hunger and thirst after rightousness? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
karl Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 "Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled." Matthew 5:6, KJV What does this feel like, to hunger and thirst after rightousness? We talk of righteousness by faith, but do we have faith in righteousness? Do we believe He is able to do it in us? Able to keep us from falling. He says, "Ye have not because ye ask not." Only if we hunger and thirst after righteousness will we keep asking Him for it like that woman did with the unrighteous judge. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Quote
Musicman1228 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 If you are hungry and thirsty is means you need something to eat and drink. You have a choice as to what you will eat and drink; you can either eat good nourishing food and sustaining drink or you can eat garbage and drink poison. Often we will eat garbage in the form of sweets or fatty food, and drink high sugar soda or drinks with stimulants in them thinking that because they taste good they are good for us. This may not be the case. If you are hungry and thirsty for righteousness and you abide in the words and teachings of a counterfeit gospel it may taste good but in the end it will not bring you to where you want to be, that is righteousness. You will actually starve to death not realizing that you were dying for lack of nourishment. There is a sugar coated gospel that is being taught pastors and preachers that tastes good but is in fact starving you to death. That gospel says that all you must do to gain righteousness is believe that Jesus became righteous for you, and that by putting His robe of righteousness over your filthy rags you are saved. This tastes good, and seems right, but it is deadly poison. The words of Jesus are righteousness, and we need to eat and drink those words so that by absorbing them we become like Jesus. Jesus said that we must eat His body and drink His blood, and this caused quite a stir in those that were following Him. Many left Him saying that this was a hard teaching. Jesus even asked His own disciples if they were going to leave Him as well. They did not realize that Jesus was using a metaphor of food and drink to teach them that it is only through HIM that we can attain righteousness. Jesus said the if we abide in His words we become disciples of His. Others have come along saying that they are 'of Christ', teaching things that are sweet and taste good but are not from Him. Christians today are being slowly poisoned by this tantalizing food and drink, not realizing that eating it will kill them. It is ONLY through the words and teachings of Jesus Christ that come from His disciples that will bring us to a sustainable righteousness that will cause God to be able to seal us in that righteousness and prepare us for service to the world during the Great Tribulation.
