GALION: Edith P. Mathews, 98, of 241 West Summit St., Galion, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Village Care Center, Galion, after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Mathews was born in Richland County on February 15, 1912 to the late Peter and Laura (Reddick) Myers. She married Elbert L. Mathews on January, 14, 1956 and he passed away June 29, 1974.

Edith was a member of Blooming Grove 7th Day Adventist Church. She was also a member of the Galion Hospital Auxiliary, TWIGS # 2, the D of A, and the Golden Age of Galion. She was a graduate of Shelby High School and of Marion Business School. She worked as an assembler at Hartman Electrical.

She is survived by step grandson, Carl and Shirley See of Galion; step great grandchildren, Brandon See of Galion and Shannon Campbell of Florida; step great great grandchildren, Courtney and Austin Campbell; nephew, Bill and Tess Love of Shelby and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by step daughters, Phyllis and Marilyn See; brothers, Glen, Jim and Ray Grimwood; sister, Florence and Charlie Love; niece, Mary Louise Adkins; nephews, Dick and Bob Love.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Richard Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Blooming Grove.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Blooming Grove 7th Day Adventist Church in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.masfh.com
