They are trying to save the well. Clearly it is a gusher.

At some point they will figure out that it is doing more damage than it is worth and they will ignite explosives far enough down the well that the explosion will plug it.

Well I am just glad that our fine President in all of his wisdom decided to start a new government agency in charge of safety on this off-shore drilling operations. I expect it to be as successful as OSHA has been. This is another great thing Obama has done to make America better.
