Woody Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I have a number of frustrations trying to sell on Ebay. So, I thought that I would start a thread to allow for others to voice their frustrations ... along with mine. I will start this gripe session by telling you one: I list only a few countries that I will ship to. Unfortunately ... Ebay does not restrict who can bid on my items. And those from other countries do purchase from me. When I cancel their purchase .... I still have to pay the fees for Ebay . I have to pay two fees. 1.) The listing fees 2.) The selling fees for the item that sold - Even though I cancelled the sale. There is no way for me to appeal these fees. I have no access to appeal. The decision is final. Hardly seems fair to me. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 WOODY so what countries will you not sell to????? just wondering dgrimm60 I list three countries that I will sell to. US UK and Canada. But really ... now that Ebay has changed their rules ... I really need to only sell to US. The reason being is that selling things to countries other than US ... it is VERY expensive to get proof of delivery. Ebay now requires it or you lose all of your money. That is the seller loses. It used to be that I would ship first class without proof. That made it cheap enough for the buyer. But now ... I can't afford the risk with the Ebay changes. And it really makes no sense for the buyer to pay the kind of charges that the post office charges. It makes no sense for a person from another country to bid on an item when they have no idea what the cost would be for shipping. But they do. Of course when I tell them what the shipping will cost ... they are no longer interested. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Also dgrimm. The postal service is not honest in some countries. You really can't depend upon them. I had one guy send me cash. But when his letter arrived ... it was empty and had obviously been opened. I told him this and he was not surprised because he stated his postal service has this problem all the time. He said they were corrupt. But he tried again and sent the money. This time it arrived. This man was nice about it. But another person could have accused ME. As I recall ... it was around $75. Not a small amount in my book. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Amelia Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Why did you allow him to send you cash? Don't you have instructions on your sale page? GreatLakesGramma Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Can't you check on your auction while it is progress and delete bidders from other countries? I have never sold anything on eBay. After reading what you have to say, I may not ever. Of course, they change their policies from time to time, so it may improve. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Woody Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Why did you allow him to send you cash? Don't you have instructions on your sale page? This was some time ago when I did accept cash and Ebay allowed it. But I don't accept cash any longer. And as it is obvious ... people ignore "instructions". Woody Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Can't you check on your auction while it is progress and delete bidders from other countries? I have never sold anything on eBay. After reading what you have to say, I may not ever. Of course, they change their policies from time to time, so it may improve. Currently ... I have only Buy it now items to sell. When the market is better ... as in closer to Christmas ... I switch to auctions so they can bid. I've been on Ebay a number of years and the changes are ALWAYS in favor of the buyer and not the seller. It has become increasingly difficult and expensive to sell there. An example of this was that a buyer from Europe got angry at me because of my shipping charge. I was only charging cost. The cost was $17.95. He told me that it should be $3.00. What a laugh. I told him that if he could send proof of this such as a link ... that I would agree to it. Instead ... he gave me a negative before even paying for it. I reported him as nonpayment. He then payed and at the same time ... reported it as not received. Yes. He payed and then the same hour reported it as not received. And got his money back because I had no proof of delivery since I hadn't delivered it. And there is no discussion about the issue. They ONLY allow for space for the delivery confirmation number. I then left him a negative feedback. Unknowingly ... it was against the rules for ANY seller at ANY time to EVER give a buyer a negative feedback. Yes, this is even if the buyer doesn't pay. I know you will find this unbelieveable. But this is their new policy. Anyways ... my actions caused me to lose around a hundred dollars. Yes. This was because Ebay then cancelled my membership of my store and cancelled all of my listings. And you bet. This was during the Christmas season when I had a lot listed. Luckily ... when I appealed they realized what a scum this guy was. They restored my store but not the listings and I lost my membership dues along with all the cost of listings. Like I said ... I was out around $100.00. The other guy? He was banned from Ebay and to this day ... is gone. But the point is ... I was still treated unfairly and the same policies remain. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Liz Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Uncle Woody, have you tried Craigslist? Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Please, support the March of Dimes.
Woody Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 No Liz ... I haven't. I am not familiar with it. Perhaps I will check it out. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 Follow up. Today this jerk sent me a PayPal payment. I had sent him a notice that I was cancelling the sale. Ebay ASKED him on the 11th ... if he would 'permit' it to be cancelled. He responded by sending a payment. I refunded his payment and again told him I do not ship to Brazil. This guy appears to be a jerk. I fully expect him to leave NEGATIVE Feedback. This will lower my rating. And I already have a negative from the previous jerk that I told about in my OP. But of course ... the only feedback that 'I' as the seller can leave is positive. If I say ANYthing negative I could lost all listings and membership and be banned from Ebay. GreatLakesGramma Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Can't you leave neutral feedback with comments? Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Woody Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 Can't you leave neutral feedback with comments? No. You can't. Only positive. Ebay allows for three catagorizes for feedback if you are the buyer ... 1.) Positive 2.) Neutral 3.) Negative Any of these can be said of the seller from the buyer. However ... the SELLER is only give one catagory: 1.) POSITIVE. Only GOOD things can be stated of the buyer. And if you mix in a few slightly negative statements ... you are in violations and can suffer greatly. As I discovered. If you mentioned that the buyer refused to pay ... you would definately be in violation. Just picture this ... it is the VICTIM that suffers. The offender goes scott free. This is called Ebay justice. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
GreatLakesGramma Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Yes, and the next seller has no idea that he may get victimized too. I don't think I'm ever going to sell anything on eBay, unless they make their policies more seller friendly. Have you ever checked out Amazon Marketplace? For fixed price sales, that might be a better choice. I buy things there sometimes. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. Woody Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 I will check that out GLG. Thanks for the lead. Ebay is making it difficult in ALL areas for the seller and I'm gettin' tired of it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
