Does anyone know why God made the opossum so ugly? Who could ever love an opossum? I don't know if I could love an opossum if I was one.

Trust and obey

For there's no other way

To be happy in Jesus

But to trust and obey

I like that song.

Obey is not a dirty word to me. I am happy to be commanded by God, just so long as I know for certain it IS God. It's the latter thing I have problems with. If I listen to my own fanaticism I can make myself quite sick and unhappy and take myself quite far away from God, plus make Him out to be unreasonable which He is not. But let God give me a clear command that (a) I understand exactly how to fulfill and (B) I know of certainty comes from Him, not from my head or from another human's judgment, and by His grace, I would be elated to do it.

In fact if He doesn't ask/tell me to do something for awhile I start to feel abandoned and unhappy.

Go figure.

How about this fun fact? I had to shoot an oppossum 12 times with a .22 to kill it. And I had it in a trap so every bullet hit.

They are all over down here like squirls are up north. Now one can sit in the front porch swing drinking lemonade with their arm around their spouse and see a squirl without ruining the moment. When an opposum comes scurrying accross the lawn the moment is lost.

Good post Nico..

Now throw out some thoughts as to why there is this uncomfortable feeling in the pulpit for using the "O" word..

Whenever you feel so inclined

I don't know what church you go to Brother Jimbob but our pastor talks about obeying all the time. Are you sure it is an Adventist church you are attending? Adventism is all about the love of God. Some other denominations try to seperate obedience from love. Yet I have yet to see how that can be done. Jesus said if we love Him we will keep His Commandments. The Apostle John said that the love of God is that we keep His Commandments and they are not grevious. Obedience goes hand and hand with love. Adventists get that.
