Under Obama's watchful eye, this year, for the first time since the Great Depression, Americans took more aid from the government than they paid in taxes.

So much of our supposed "recovery" is a result of government spending rather than a revival of private income and jobs. That situation is unsustainable because the government has had to borrow massively to prop up the economy and cannot continue that binge for long.

This government spending bubble will soon burst, as every bubble must. Then the dollar will [must] plummet in value (as the money supply is also in a bubble situation). When these go, there will be hardship the likes have not been seen in centuries.

The resulting depression will make the Great Depression of the 30's seem like Ronald Reagan's 80's...

I see nothing less than something like this kind of economic mess to snap people into attention that there is not, and never will be, a sustainable global sodialist economy...ever.

God's ways are always best. Deficit spending is NOT God's way. Neither is involuntary wealth redistribution, "social justice," abortion on demand, evolutionary theory being peddled as fact, and a host of other things we are doing to our own detriment.

I believe there is a day of reckoning hovering over us.

There are plenty of Jonah's sounding the warning. The public seems to have caught on and thus the Tea Party movement - hated by liberals and the lamestream media, of course. The question is whether we can convince the leadership. There are signs that some of them are catching on.

Nothing like imminent bankruptcy to stimulate thoughts of frugality in profligate spenders. As Everett Dirksen once said, "A billion here, a billion there: pretty soon you're talking real money."

We can now revise his famous quote up by a multiplier of ten to the third power.

Scary. And we have people right here on CA openly opposed to any reduction of welfare/entitlement spending.

We need to work. Hard. And save money rather than give it away to countries, companies, and people who could work if they wanted to.

We have the can do. Do we have the want to?

Obama certainly isn't doing good with the economy. I don't know if I can make it another two years without getting laid off unless my boss decides to send me to Africa after all.

I have to agree with that assessment, Karl.

Creating a mount of debt in the expectation our children and grandchildren will pay it off is down right wicked. No matter the trappings of "fairness" one wants to dress it in, it is flatly intergenerational theft on a massive scale, as they must be accountable for misappropriations of their anscestors while receiving no benefit or value. They are being taxed, and are not represented at all with peers having a vested interest...most are even too young to even understand the real consequences of taxation without representation - an evil that started the Revolutionary War.

As far as some of the conservative leadership - they might be made afraid enough to mouth the Tea Party warnings, but they lack the political will to enact the severe reforms needed to stave off the crash that is coming. They were part of the process that made this mess possible; they need to be men/women of honor and step aside, allowing new leaders to take the helm.

However, it might be to late already if the public debt and dollar bubbles go *POP*.

There are sounds reasons why fundamental economic laws are indeed laws, and not merely suggestions...

Yes, Karl, we have all types here - the "social justice" types who think everything built or run by the white/Anglo is inherently evil...the socialist types that never saw an entitlement that wasn't necessary, or a rich person not worthy of having their wealth forcibly separated from them because "they have more than enough to live on"...the evolutionary origin types who want their science and God, too - but haven't figured out it's one or the other (the two schools of thought on origins cannot be, can never be, reconciled - IMO)
