Ellen Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I've been thinking about people who put "signatures" on their posts. Some really long and repetative. Do readers like to see them, I wonder. Does it make the message more meaningful? Do the writers think theirs is so special readers want to see it over and over and over again? Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted May 31, 2010 Moderators Posted May 31, 2010 Different people use them for different purposes. I try to keep mine pithy and change it regularly. I guess it's just a bit of personalisation. Some forums allow huge images in signatures, and as a result are a pain to read. It tends not to bother me here... and sometimes there's a nice resonance (or irony!) between the content of the post and the signature. Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted May 31, 2010 Moderators Posted May 31, 2010 Andplus, thanks for the reminder, I think it's time for a new one for me. Though I think the last change was only a month or so ago. Quote Truth is important
Outta Here Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I appreciate seeing people's signatures. The signature helps me to recall the personality of the real life person behind the post. Avatars, titles and locations also help to identify the unique individuality of those on these 2-dimensional forums. For those people who do not want to view the signatures of other posters, there is always the option of turning them off in preferences. Quote
Liz Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I like them, and I read them. I also like it when people changes theirs from time to time. I keep forgetting to change mine though. Ellen Posted June 3, 2010 Author Posted June 3, 2010 Liz, I canvassed for March of Dimes several years. Two of my boys have type 1 diabetes. I'm anxious for a solution as well. Quote
