Members abelisle Posted June 8, 2010 Members Posted June 8, 2010 Thanks to our health reform message I can say the following: I hope I'm not adding too much levity to my attempt to be positive rather than abusive about our bodies or those of others. Let us come together and praise the temples that are our bodies. This is what health reform has done to my 62 year old temple: Alex (hope this doesn't blow up in my face?) Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 8, 2010 Members Posted June 8, 2010 I am offended by abelisle's showing off his naked torso. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators lazarus Posted June 8, 2010 Moderators Posted June 8, 2010 Isn't there an EGW quote about showing naked chest/bellies? Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
Liz Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Where are your arms and legs? I always get a little weirded out just seeing a dismembered torso like that. So show us the whole thing. :smilewink: Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? bonnie Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I am offended by abelisle's showing off his naked torso. Maybe all of us should bare all to show what great shape we are in LOL Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
karl Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I-phone self portrait. Now that's the right way to wear spandex. Swooshing right to left across your screen, but left to right in reality? Nike means "overcomer." Christians are to be Nikes. Quote
Members abelisle Posted June 8, 2010 Author Members Posted June 8, 2010 karl, Don't worry. I got it. "Left to right" eh? Sorry, but I'm still leaning left. karl Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 karl, Don't worry. I got it. "Left to right" eh? Sorry, but I'm still leaning left. Actually, I hadn't even thought of that. I was looking at the Nike swoosh and trying to figure out which direction it was going in the reflection. But I like your take on it, too. Quote

Overaged Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Torso plus "arms and legs" Alex (taken 2 years ago = 60 yrs. old) I wonder; how much religion is in a gymn? Is this kind of beef-caking a part of "the health message?" Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Members abelisle Posted June 9, 2010 Author Members Posted June 9, 2010 Since "beef-caking" isn't reflective of the health message for some, here I am 30 years ago (32 yrs. old) - lean and ripped - LOL at the Pepsi National 10K Championships where I placed in the 90th % nationally at the NYC Cross Country Championships in Van Cortlandt Park, Bx., NY Alex (I was a running fool back in the day Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
Liz Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 So you have always had facial hair? I hope you take this in the spirit in which it was intended, but I think you got better with age. Overaged Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 I don't know that some kinds of running would be a part of the health message either, would it? When you say "the health message," what do you mean? Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Members phkrause Posted June 10, 2010 Members Posted June 10, 2010 I don't know that some kinds of running would be a part of the health message either, would it? When you say "the health message," what do you mean? I kind of agree that running would not be part of it. Being able to run or jog or do sports or any kind of activity is a result of the health message. Like eating, drinking, exercising etc. That's what I believe he means. But maybe I'm wrong. There are those that can not run or jog or even play sports, not because they are not healthy but maybe they have a medical problem. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members abelisle Posted June 10, 2010 Author Members Posted June 10, 2010 Yes Pete. Exercise is a part of health reform. Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
GreatLakesGramma Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Running would be part of the health message in the sense that exercise is a part of it, and running is exercise. If you want to stay healthy, you have to exercise. Most people don't realize how much building muscle influences your health. It actually changes your body chemistry for the better and boosts your immune system. When I was doing strength training, I was not only fit, but I felt the best I ever felt in my life. It was while strength training regularly that I stopped catching colds and the flu, no matter how sick the members of my household might be. My health has definitely gone downhill since I had to quit. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis
Overaged Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 You are quite right re how exercise changes the body chemistry and balances it better. I guess I am thinking that "the health message" is kind of an over-worked phrase with under-utilized principles. I would be interested to hear the definition people would give for this phrase "the health message." What is it's central point/s? Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)"I cannot know why suddenly the stormshould rage so fiercely round me in it's wrathBut this I know: God watches all my pathAnd I can trust""God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - OveragedFaith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ
