I do have to give a pat on the back to everyone that participates in this forum - liberals, conservatives and moderates alike.

When President Bush was President many liberals would come in this section and lambast him accusing him of being everything from a child killer to a superficial Christian.

Many of those same liberals quickly pleaded with the administration here to take away their access to this forum soon after President Obama was elected. They discovered that while they could give it out, they couldn't take it. They had no problem making outlandish accusations against a conservative President but couldn't handle it when outlandish accusations were made against a liberal President.

Not all liberals fled. We still have some that continue to contribute here and I appreciate that. I know that many of the accusations against our fine President are outlandish and fueled by ideologues just trying to push their political agenda. However in this arena of ideas we need contrasting opinions to be shared. Liberals are welcome here.

The conservatives here are finding a faith-based venue where they can vent their frustrations. They are also appreciated and encouraged to participate.

Thank you all for your continued participation in this venue that can get very hot at times.

You have flailed about and somehow hit a nail right on the head Shane. I have noted this about liberals for many years. They can dish it out just fine, but they can't take it at all. They will hang up the phone on you, or they will start talking about your momma, or start calling you names that don't make any sense, while their faces turn red, and spit is running down their chin because they have lost all control.

Surprisingly you seem to take it pretty well Shane. That is a rare quality in a liberal. You seem to be about the only one left here who hasn't mysteriously disappeared.

My hat is off to you for that.

Of course, I am not a liberal. I don't like labeling people but I don't think lazarus, pkrause, SivartM or dgrimm60 would call themselves conservatives and they come in this section often. So my hat is off to them.

There is a liberal-only, by invitation only section here. I do not have access to it and would decline access if invited. This section is private only because the nature of discussing politics can get ugly and we do not want those unfamiliar with Club Adventist to wander into this forum and get the wrong idea about the site. It is, however, open for anyone asking for access. It is not invitation only. We welcome a variety of ideas and discussion. We want things to be civil. That is one of the reason we have a moderator here. I can't and won't catch everything but people can report abuses to me and I will deal with them.

Nope, I don't call myself a conservative. Or a liberal. Or an octopus.

I don't understand wars over the most mundane political issues. In secular venues, it usually ends up with words like "idiots" and "********" and comments about people needing to die, so I have to admit that CA is a more cheerful place even in the political forums.

Why not an octopus? What do you have against octopi? Why this intolerance?

Racist.

Actually, the plural of octopus is octopodes. And octopodes are not a race, they're a species, so I would at most be speciesist.

But I don't call myself an octopus for the simple reason that I am not one, and it would be dishonest to say that I was.

Are you an octopus?

Excellent post Shane. thumbsup

You and John are about the only fair posters I've seen here. When you don't like what Obama has done you say so. If you like something he's done you give him the credit he deserve's. Same was true when Bush was President. This I appreciate very much, and makes me even believe that maybe politics is not a dirty word. Thanks Shane for being a true bi-partisan.
