Does Utah use the same Calendar as everyone else? Is it 2010 there? Or are they just backwards?

** Convicted killer Ronnie Lee Gardner was executed early Friday by firing squad**

That would be preferable to having someone take forever to find a vein to

inject the poisons, as happened recently.

Typically they do not use a firing squad. The convicted killer wanted "death by a firing squad"

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Yes, and I also read in recent past months that sometimes the voltage of an electric chair is set too low, causing a prolonged, torturous death.

I agree that it sounds terrible, but I believe the evidence shows it is to be preferred to any other way of being executed. It always works successfully and has never been botched like hanging, electrocution, gassing, or the use of poisons. There's no evidence of pain and it is very, very fast.

In Utah, the condemned are given a choice as to method, and in this case, the individual chose to die by firing squad.

In many ways, it's better to die this way than to go on living in prison the rest of one's life, especially when you deserve to die and know it. Gary Gilmore knew he didn't deserve to live. He wrote to a young girl before his execution that he had made himself into someone who didn't deserve to live. He'd spent most of his life in prison already and he didn't want to go on living that way for 30 or 40 more years.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

That's so sad... :(

Anyone wasting their lives in crime and murder is sad. It is not more sad than those who had their lives cut short. Wonder if anyone besides the families even remember the innocent dead?

I mean that it's sad that he would rather die than live. Or should I be glad when people die?

I don't think this discussion is about the victims. But since you brought it up, I'm sad for them too. Since you have to specifically mention your sympathy for someone even when they are not the topic of conversation, I guess that all the children who will die of malnutrition today are forgotten as well.

This isn't even worth answering

The victims are what caused this man to receive the death penalty.

It is rare when sympathy is expressed for the guilty that the victims are even given honorable mention

Different situation. No one has received the death penalty and had it carried out because of malnutrition. As horrible as that is,no one walked up to them and put a bullet into their brain.

Veggietales told me that when you don't help someone it's the same as hurting them.

So maybe a lot of people are putting bullets in their brains.

It is sad that he did not find Christ and tell other about Him.
