Members abelisle Posted June 18, 2010 Members Posted June 18, 2010 I predict that Christianity in America will go the way of Western Europe = dead. I say this after visiting the UK for 2 weeks and seeing the problem they had maintaining churches, especially cathedrals in England, Scotland and Wales. And after speaking with the locals I got a strong sense of the majority opinion being that of agnosticism. I predict that the SDA church will morph into small cell/family churches following a congregational model. I predict that the GC administrative mindset will evolve into an older more "out of touch" leadership model. I predict that the "mark of the beast" won't be the Sabbath but other things like one's understanding of creation and origins i.e. theistic evolution (Adventist Darwinians as Cliff labels them), the gospel vs. the sanctuary, etc. I predict that this country will become more divisive as will Adventist members here in the USA along political lines cloaked as theological purity, socialism, science vs. faith, etc. I predict that racism will not go away and something will have to happen with our de facto segregated church structures What do you predict? D. Allan Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I predict that Christianity in America will become ecuminical not just with other denominations but in the sense that they will embrace the best from other religions - such as Buddhism. Quote dAb O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Gordon1 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I predict (pre - before, dicto - say; say in advance) that all denominations will espouse the ecumenical movement which is sweeping the world. This prepares nearly all, by joining hands, to receive instruction from one source, the worldy-wise antichrist who comes 'to deliver the people'. I predict another orchestrated 9/11 event to cause all the people to join hands. I predict the resurrection of the Inquisition to deal with heretics and dissent in America. I predict that almost all members of society in 'good & regular standing' will consent to the persecution of those who choose Christ over antichrist. Clergy Response Teams will be used to coordinate informers. I predict those with: • secure employment • personal debt • unequally yoked alliances • denominational (ecumenical) loyalty - will face greater pressure to support the edicts of a church & state union. Guest Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Gordon, your predictions show that you study, and understand your Bible. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted June 18, 2010 Administrators Posted June 18, 2010 That is part of the Emerging Church movement that is happening right now. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Stan Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Things have not gone well for the adventist churches that went Congregational, they tend to have a lifespan between a few months and 6-7 years. As one Pastor told me, he never realized how important our infrastructure and resources were. School system, auditors, insurance, guidance, treasury, universities, TV shows etc etc I know it is bigger than those issues. Gordon1 Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 So much to learn Richard, much more to unlearn. Quote
Guest Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I predict that the second coming of Jesus is closer than we first believed. Quote
Guest Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Stan, what do you mean when you say they went congrgational? Quote
doug yowell Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I predict the soon appearance of an Emerging Prophetic Movement within Adventism. Quote
Moderators Nan Posted June 19, 2010 Moderators Posted June 19, 2010 And assuming your prophecy comes to pass, would that make you part of such a movement ? Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted June 19, 2010 Moderators Posted June 19, 2010 I predict that the future will be nothing like we expect. I specifically predict that not one of Gordon's predictions will come true. I'm not having a go at Gordon at all, that's just the most economical way to describe what I predict. Stan Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Richard They started their own congregational Church. Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
doug yowell Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Stan, can you give a couple of examples and briefly tell what happened? Quote
doug yowell Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I'm not committing to anything at this point. Quote
Woody Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 It is my recall .... that Stan stated that whoever was the next to use quotes on this forum .... would be banned. I have to wonder if Stan is willing to ban himself for the above post? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Stan Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Stan will ban whoever the moderator tells him to. Sometimes I have to be reminded which forum I am on. Woody Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Cool. Don't we all. Tolerance is good. Even on this forum. I guess if you can be forgiven for the use of quotes .... so can the rest of us :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 20, 2010 Administrators Posted June 20, 2010 Forgiveness has been extended in the form of editing... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
Woody Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Well ... that's pretty brave of you to edit Stan the Man. Not many get that privilege. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Guest Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Thank you Stan. Now I see. The ones that went congrgational, were they of the emergent variety, or did they think the main structure was not conservative enough? Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 20, 2010 Administrators Posted June 20, 2010 My reaction was very much as Bravus - I predict that the unpredictable will happen. The nature of prophecy has most often been that it turns out or is fulfilled in ways that only become clear after the fact. Those who prognosticate most specifically are usually the furtherest from being correct. Uncertain the future is... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."
